Forino is nowhere near good enough on the ball to make it as a Premier League defender. However, he will be fantastic for our level and style of play. He's good but let's not get carried away.
Forino does seem to have improved massively over the summer for some. Will be pleased to see him back but I hope he doesn't have to put up with the criticism McCleary is getting at the moment for simply not being lights out brilliant.
Sorry to correct you but Forino has not been out for three months. He was an unused sub in the playoffs final against Sunderland and played the first half of the pre-season friendly against Watford.
First league game loss in a record breaking 14! And it’s like the end of the world re lack of signings, injury, loss of player form. Come on!! (you Blues)….
I think a couple of things can be true at the same time:
We need a goalkeeper and CB (at least)
We don't need to panic.
I actually expect a step back this season anyway owing to the lack of parachute payments. I would have guessed 8th after Burton, and probably 13th after this week (subject to wildly reactionary changes after each match). Playoffs again would be a tremendous achievement!
But should the Chairman be out there saying he expects us to be in the Top 2 this season without a first choice goalkeeper and only 2 first team centre backs?
Thank you @LeedsBlue, that illustrates my point that all is not lost at this point in time and no need to panic. New signings/loans will eventually happen and then who knows?
Absolutely loved the Mexican fan’s Bolton diary - his first ever Wycombe game and he was genuinely blown away by the experience. Just imagine when he’s over here for a Blues victory! Seems I was sat just a few seats away, but had no idea. Next time I’ll be sure to say a big ‘hola’...
Not sure some of the assessments of AAH, De Barr and Mellor in this thread are either very accurate or fair.
All three are young players at the very beginning of their senior careers and deserve to be assessed after 20 games not 20 minutes.
if we are going to have a development squad in order to identify, develop and retain young talent rather than see it go back to parent clubs after loan spells (and then flogged on to Luton or Peterborough), we need to have a bit of patience as the jump to first team football is huge.
Inevitably these are also players that have already been released elsewhere as we don’t have a youth team operation. To have already spotted two talents like Mehmeti and Forino is a huge achievement in such a short time.
AAH had a decent enough loan spell with Bromley last season and is coming on ok, De Barr has just got over a bad injury and has already done enough to get himself in the first team picture and Mellor has been with us for all of five minutes. Let’s back off from judging whether they are or aren’t going to make it for now and give them a chance.
Beginning on Tuesday night when I’m sure at least one will start.

we will see him in 2023 probably!
If he's out much longer he'll have morphed into Mawson/Williamson levels to some.
He’s missed two games.
Plus 3 months over summer for his rep to skyrocket.
Plus a "back soon" from us is often a "back not very soon at all".

Just get another centre back. Even if he comes back we still need another CB.
Before Alan piles in with ‘don’t you think they are trying to do that’, I know they are and it is just frustration.

One of your best posts for a while. I agree.
You've misread.
No-one said he's been injured 3 months, merely over that time his rep has morphed to levels above what he's shown so far.
Just 1 defeat..Bolton a big club. 23.4 days of the window left.
Get with it son.

Welcome to early season Gasroom...
But should the Chairman be out there saying he expects us to be in the Top 2 this season without a first choice goalkeeper and only 2 first team centre backs?
Promising the undeliverable to people desperate to believe it is so very now. Poor old Rob doesn't realise he is dealing with the Gasroom...
I wonder where the (eventually) two automatic promotion teams were in the table after the second game last season?
Well neither of them were top, because we were!!
Wigan were 12th, 3pts from 2 games, 0 diff. Rotherham were two places higher with the same points and a diff of +1.
And we're 11th, right in the middle of those two. So we're bang on track for autos.

Are we really so easily wounded by the Chairman saying he wants and expects success this season even if we feel he has not opened his checkbook?
The traditional Gasroom predictions of a season of doom are a bit early even for us!
With any luck Tyla will face another bang average L1 team this weekend.
50% win rate so far.😎

Do they do numbers/names these days on shirts in the shop at the club?
Asking for a friend.

I’ve a feeling of deja vu.
Shouldn't that be déjà vu.
Sorry, couldn't resist!
It certainly should be. I was feeling more than usually lazy. (I nearly always have to google to see where the grave and acute accents go.)
