When we got up the view on here seemed to be (to me) it will be tough, we cannot really afford to compete and we dont want a splurge to get the club in financial trouble but it is great for the club and even if we go.down we'll be in a better place experience and money wise back in L1. That's still my view though except for a couple of atrocious games we've not been embarrassed up here often and in fact the number of late goals proves to me that even if we are as crap as some one line posters would have it the team is still giving it's all.(If not for an offside yesterday for example...) Having almost played everyone now I dont think we're too far away and with a bit of luck and a decent run.of results I think we could still stay up. (I assumed the boos were for the ref. I would be very disappointed if it was directed at the players.)
Well said Bookertease, so pleased to see the more positive tone of the majority of posts following yesterday’s game. Of course we have shortcomings, of course we’re desperately in need of a win, but I for one am so proud to see our club putting in a decent showing at a level none of us would have dreamed of just a few short years ago.

In fact, the players were booed off at half-time against Coventry last season. Never sits right with me.
I’d assumed on this occasion all boos were for the officials. We either need boos that can be differentiated or just go with “You’re not fit to referee/wear the shirt/form a sociopolitical and economic worldview” as required.

The lack of "the referees a w@nker" or my preferred option "How's your father referee" was a real shame. Need to get more fans back in ?.

Agreed. I guess in these Woke times there is little chance of reviving that retro chant (to the tune of ‘build a bonfire’) that questioned the marital status of the refs parents. Always a favourite at Loakes Park.
Don’t think I’ve ever heard your preferred option @Wendoverman. “Who’s your father?” perhaps.
@glasshalffull: if you place an @ in front of usernames it comes up on the screen in blue helping that person and others to spot that they’ve had a response and, on my phone at least, lets them know (in a pop up notification) that a named person has referred to them on a named thread.
Please tell me to mind my own business if, like my wife, you think what I see as being helpful comes across as unnecessary interference! I hasten to add that she has no interest whatsoever in this (potential) example or indeed in anything IT whatsoever.
@Micra, I have just tried it so hope it worked. I appreciate your guidance as when it comes to IT (like most things) I am a dinosaur. I once had to get an 80 year old to show me how to take a selfie!
Interesting that Mark Robins said Coventry have the second smallest budget in the league. Even if that's true (I would have thought Rotherham's would be smaller), they still paid over £1 million for Gustavo Hamer (who they'll sell for several million in the not-too-distant future) - more than ten times what we spent in total this summer. The sell-on fee from Callum Wilson signing for Newcastle will have helped balance the books (although they signed Hamer a couple of months before that), but it just goes to show how up against it we are - and how remarkably well we're doing to be in touch with 21st as we approach the halfway mark.
That said, just imagine what Gaz and Dobbo could do with those kinds of funds at their disposal.
A few years ago when my wife and I were ushering at the Swan, the “star” of the show was chatting in the foyer to a small group of people who were clearly longstanding followers and one of them handed me his phone and asked me to take a picture of them with their hero. I kinda looked at it blankly for what seemed an age wondering what to look through (!) and what to press when one of the group snatched it away with a barely stifled sigh and a few muttered tuts. Embarrassing.
I was booing the ref. Can’t speak for anyone else. The abuse I was yelling at the linesman was so muffled by the mask I was wearing there’s no way the ref could have heard me had I yelled at him, but I found a BOOOOOOOO came out loud and clear.

Coherence through a mask is tough. I think it explains why the only ‘song’ we currently attempt is Chairboys Barmy Army. There was a fella a few rows behind me who sounded very clear when addressing his concerns to the ref. I suspect he may have unmasked.
1 - The refereeing decisions have not just taken away points, they have robbed us of fond memories and moments of catharsis. The latter may be more important (especially if we go down anyway). Remember when JJ stuck a corner past Millwall's keeper? Remember when Scottie equalized against Coventry with the last kick of the game? Me neither, because it did not officially happen now.
2 - There is just this galling sense that between the injuries, refereeing and the odd mistake in games, we have not been able to put our best foot forward. I am convinced that if you replayed the season up to now 100 times, 11 points is the lowest we would have, and we would usually be closer to 20.
I am nothing but proud of this club - it has been a tough year for reasons other than the endeavour of these players and manager. I am not disappointed in us fighting relegation, I am disappointed in how everything just seems to go against us.
Apart from I think in both those cases it was a guess. With the Kashket foul it felt more a case that the officials felt that something must have happened rather than they actually saw it
Samuel fouled Foster, impossible to tell if Kashket fouled Białkowski. Offside on Saturday looked right but assistant must have guessed, Luton one looked right but flag went up quickly. So I'd say we've been 'denied' two points at most: one v Norwich and maybe one v Coventry.
At the end of the day, we've gifted more goals to teams than officials have 'taken away' from us.
Does someone have an angle for Saturday that shows him offside? I could only see him offside for someone with diagonal eyesight, from what I have seen so far.

Why do you state these things as facts when they are subjective calls?
For me the Samuel one v Watford was very harsh and shouldn't have been given.
The Kashket one i originally thought was ludicrous but he does grab the Millwall goalkeeper's shirt so again I'd say up for debate.
Agree with DJ there.
I don't think all of the decisions given were factual at all. They're opinion.
That "offside" on Saturday I've seen replays and I've seen stills. I've seen a still with a drawn line on it (wrongly - as the guy was doing it on feet position - and it's not about feet position these days). And one of them are conclusive one way or another. In that situation - you must give the goal. You can only rule it out on being certain.
I'm convinced the linesman guessed it was offside from the Cov players' reactions.
And that's why football players argue every decision as it will put pressure on.
Take McCarthy. He kicked the heck out of that winger's foot the other day yet a group of our players swept in to argue it.

The linesman had a great angle
There's a few stills going around and it's still hard to tell.
The fact the lino put his flag up so late makes me think he guessed.
If you follow the cut off the grass here, it looks offside, but I refuse to believe the assistant hasn't guessed. If the flag hasn't gone up within one second of the receiving player touching the ball, that should be that, but for some reason they're allowed to take their sweet time over it.
That Foster failed to include the incident or any mention of it in his otherwise extensive blog suggested there might have been something in it and as DJ states most of these are questionable.
The fact that it's decisions at both ends is galling as is the thought that it could contribute to us missing the chance to do this season again properly visiting the grounds we hoped to, But reality is we are a small unfashionable club and we need to up our time on the ball in the opposing area if we want more of these situations and therefore more of guesses to go in our favour.

100% agree, I thought it was a very close colour clash on the highlights last night. Tough for the ref and assistants.
I do think the inability to watch games in the flesh has impacted on the perception of our performance so far.
In more normal times we’d have been able to have felt part of this incredible journey that GA and co have taken us on and revelled in our spirit.
If we’d been there week in, week out I don’t think the possibility of relegation would have felt so harsh

I think it's now fashionable to boo at half time if your team is losing, almost irrespective of how well they're playing.
The lack of "the referees a w@nker" or my preferred option "How's your father referee" was a real shame. Need to get more fans back in ?.

We haven't been robbed of anything

So not robbed as such but a little bit unkindly treated by the footballing gods

The one that really hurts is the Norwich one as their player has blatantly cheated.
Which begs the question why he did not flag rightaway with that great angle?
That's a good question but it doesn't make it not offside
