It was good to see the locals getting in the spirit of bonfire night early. The firework nearly gave me a heart attack and the smoke bomb at the end was rather pretty.

Certainly @fame_46 he was excellent in defence as well as attack on Saturday as well. Good Point well made!
I agree. Fame 46 is spot on with this observation, especially with regards to Bayo. On the FB page, a poster has (unbelievably) suggested that Bayo shouldn’t be in the starting X1 and actually got a couple of ‘likes’.
He’s our leading scorer, has most assists and is crucial at defending set pieces, not to mention his influence on and off the field. He’s already a Wycombe legend.

There's a strange subsection of our support who think Bayo makes us a worse performing team, against all the overwhelming statistical evidence. Very odd.
And I didn't think he noticeably tired towards the end of last night's game anyway. The bloke is a freak (in the very best sense of the word, as in how fit he is and how well he's playing at this stage in his career) and it's our privilege to have him in the side.

for me, he's our best ever signing.
Completely agree with all of the above. The constant moan that if we didn't play with Bayo we would be Man City all ball on the floor silky skills is bizarre. A fantastic focal point, a player comfortable with the ball in the air or on the floor, great distribution and a brilliant character to boot. Except for his moobs being constantly offside what else needs to be said?
As much as Bayo is one of our most important players at both ends of the pitch, I wanted a change up last night for the last 10 minutes, but I can see why we didn't.
I like that we have more options now, because it makes us so much less predictable, Bayo being so unique means teams often have an entire different setup when he's on the pitch - changing that for the last 15 minutes when tired isn't easy for defenders.

It is a very strange little splinter group, that I first noticed 20mins into the Doncaster away game last season. I think that was game 2 of the season and the "can't play league 1", "that's why Wimbledon let him go" guff started in earnest.
There's a group that still doubt Gaz too, I'm certain. They're quiet now, but 2-3 games without a win and they'll be back.
Close call between Curtis and Phillips for MoM for me. Phillips had easily his best game for us, but my god Curtis is fantastic to watch. There was a beautiful moment where he was being closed down by two Blackpool players, both within only a few feet of him, and he lost them both with just the drop of a shoulder.
I remember that moment. What a good player he is, fierce in the tackle, calm in possession and a tidy passer of the ball. How on earth did Notts County fail to recognise his qualities?
He did something similar the very first time I saw him play for us away at Barnet - we kept possession in a phase of play where we really had no right to. Loved him ever since.
Notts loss is our gain. He is very tenacious, difficult to dispossess and good in the tackle. Another great find for Dobbo and Gareth. But I do see what @username is saying. As others have pointed out though at 2 - 0 with fifteen to go a change might frighten the defence, at 1 - 0 or 1 - 1 it's harder to risk taking off our main goal threat.

I recall posting a jokey response to someone a few years ago as we were on a winning run and GA was still getting slated something like:
...I totally agree, he won;t get us to the play-offs, but even if he does we won't get promoted, but even if we do he won't keep us up and even if he does he won't get us promoted again...etc etc...
There are certain people - even on here - who predict things the day after they happened, who know the real truth and will be happy to share it once we falter.

In fairness, I think most of us failed to recognise his quality when he came in at first and barely got near the team, and when he did he wasn't as good as now!
But a supreme transformation, and with Gape only on that 1 year deal, gives us long term security in that position.

I think you'll find after a ten minute debut (or something ) I predicted 'Curtis Thompson will prove to be one of the best players we've ever signed' Cannot exactly remember when but if you'd care to scroll back a few thousand posts @Malone ...
I was joking in my earlier post @fame_46 but I did think he looked good when he first came, but that was on the basis of very few minutes. The fact he was a fellow Nottinghamian may have also played a part!

I don’t think he’s scored for us yet so can’t wait for the T-shirt when he finally finds the net, especially if it’s anything like Beany’s beauty.
I think he scored a screamer against someone didn;t he? Or am I dreaming? Doncaster?

Funnily enough, I nominated Thompson as MOM for one of his early games and remember getting dog’s abuse!
I had a quick look back and think it may have been against Bristol in August last year.
Out of interest I went to have a look what was said and picking out a few thoughts on him from on her that day...
Chickenhead
Did all the people who keep raving about Thompson including Alan Parry fail to notice his sublime pass along the six yard box to there striker for him to tap in. Or not notice the several times he was muscled of the ball because he was to slow.
HCBlue
Agree that Thompson was never motm. Frankly, he didn't, to me, look good enough for the level of play today.
Glenactico
How on earth Thompson won MOTM I do not know. I thought he was very poor.
Mooneyman
I am not convinced Thompson is as good as Bean, let alone an upgrade.
Aloysius
Thompson are too pedestrian to offer much support. I'm afraid to me Bloomfield, Bean and Thompson all look like players that would keep a club hovering around the mid table mark in League Two.
Malone
I'm still not quite sure what Thompson is about to be honest. One of those bits and pieces mids who doesn't really stand out.
How opinions have change! Just a handful of compliments for him that day...
FmG
I like Thompson - neat and tidy player
glasshalffull
No one is claiming that Thompson is the new Steven Gerrard but he’s a useful player to have in the squad.
Wendoverman
I obviously know nothing about the football (cue cries of agreement) as I thought Thompson was the pick of our midfield, the only person closing down rovers in the midfield, won a lot of battles coming away with the ball and made a couple of really good interceptions.
yep just checked....'But a Paris Cowan-Hall double - the second in added time - either side of Curtis Thompson's equaliser, handed Rovers just their second defeat in 13 games in all competitions.' Fantastic goal...worth checking out on that internet!

Maybe we just deemed him too important a player to be without against a team strong in the air, who are a good side in this division to boot.
It's a tough run of games over 8 days that we're currently on.
The next spell has 2 efl games, Shrewsbury at home and 2 games v Tranmere. Parker will certainly start 2 of those at least
