@micra sorry to hear about your absence. Hope a full recovery is swiftly made.

  • Speedy recovery @micra and all the best. We missed you at AP today.

  • Thanks to everyone for the good wishes.
I was discharged about 5.30’and was well enough to cook the evening meal. Starting to think I’ll have to stay away from Adams Park as that was the fourth time in three years the tachycardia has struck. That was the first time I’ve failed to self-resolve (get the heart rate down from 150+ to 65-75) and before today I’ve only needed an ambulance from home. I am currently being monitored at Harefield hospital and will probably be having a procedure called “ablation” before the year is out.

Very impressed with everyone who looked after me today (well, yesterday) from initial assistance from @Slaphead and @BlueBoy, St John First Aiders, Paramedics (including “Ronnie”, Adams Park) and Kamil and Kieron (ambulance crew), and all the staff in CSRU. Can’t thank them enough.

  • @micra purely self interest on my and @BlueBoy ‘s part - we were worried about our supply of celebratory toffees! Glad to hear you’re feeling better and look forward to seeing you back at AP in a couple of weeks.

  • Stupid Boy! The sweets sustained me during the hours on a trolley in the Cardiac Unit and I was able to listen to commentary on iFollow. Paul Smyth was an interesting co-commentator!

  • Hope you're feeling better @micra

The lads did you proud again

  • They did indeed. I get these bloody episodes too often but there is a procedure called ablation which I may be a candidate for. Not very pleasant by the sound of it but if it does the trick.... I’m fine now and we’re off to meet my sister and hubby in Great Bookham for a lunchtime jazz session. Traditional, not the kind @EddieMonsoon used to twit me about!
Haven’t seen the guy for at least a year.

Glad to hear you’re on the mend. Will accept IOU’s for future sweet distribution.

  • Sorry to hear about your health problem Micra, take a look at the league table-that should calm you down (15pts clear of the relegation places)! Best wishes.

  • Our of curiosity Micra, what was the beer queue like in the hospital?

  • Loo queue was more important. And had to sign indemnity form to walk there (having told the nurse I couldn’t use “bottle”!)

  • Glad to hear you’re feeling better @micra, you couldn’t have chosen a better victory to miss!

  • Best wishes @micra for a full and speedy recovery.

  • Yeah, happy birthday to all celebrants, glad to hear you're feeling better @micra and hope to see you at AP in October.

Careful looking at the league table though, I still get vertigo!

  • Sorry to hear that Micra, wishing you a speedy recovery and regular visits to AP!

  • Crikey, what with all the birthday stuff on FB and all the well-wishing on here, I have been lost for words (bit odd for someone whose prolixity is legendary) but can I just say that I really appreciate it and hope I recover enough confidence to revisit the Chairboys Village and meet not just the people I’d planned to meet last Saturday but at least one or two of the other Gasroomers who have wished me well.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Also, @micra, I lost my opportunity to play matchmaker again! Nice to hear you are on the mend anyway.

  • That was about my15th episode in four years unfortunately @EwanHoosaami so I’m a bit of a survivor but they only last 1-2 hours and the onset and cessation are more or less like switching a light switch on and off. Between episodes I’m fine (apart from occasionally being aware of irregularity). I think psychosomatics probably come into it. It’s on my mind most of the time, especially of course when I’m somewhere where it’s occurred before.

I’ve said more than enough I think. The only excuse is that at least I started the thread and the Chairboys Village element and the edge it has over the Caledonian Suite as a place to socialise (at least when the sun shines) is central to most of the discussion.

  • @micra no fighting the drummers on the terrace when you next visit I hope??

  • There’s a cymbal answer to that @Wendoverman but, for Tom Toms sake, I wouldn’t be so bass as to be snared into that trap.

That post is impossible to beat, @micra

  • Beat out dat rhythm on a drum as the (very) old song went @railwaysteve?

  • I've now ordered several pints on the app without issue, but will take heed for the future.
Also @micra - was that response from Jisc.........?

  • I'm still just getting "No longer available" and Lincoln details when I try the link the club posted on 6th September. I've tried other routes but no success. Can anyone post a working link I could use?

  • Like you, @micra, my phone did not offer me the click etc option last week.

  • I decided to go for the long, slow queue last Saturday @HCblue but before I could even join it I was whisked away. Managed to listen to the excellent Catchpole/Smyth commentary though whist lying on a trolley in CSRU.

  • Without the option of choosing, I was in the tech-proles queue but it seemed to move faster than the c+c one!

  • I can confirm that as fact @HCblue. I was in the "smug gits" que. It moved a lot slower and I found myself wishing I hadn't been so clever!

  • I've used it at both the Lincoln and Pompey games both before kick off and at half time and it's worked brilliantly both times and saved me a lot of queuing.

If I could give them one piece of advice it would be to have plenty of pre-poured pints ready to be given to thirsty punters. Would probably speed things up a bit

That is exactly what Rob Couhig said to the bar staff when he came into the tent on Saturday!
