Just the one competitive game this weekend, on Sunday when the U23s host Chesham United Devs, who have one point from six games. Last season the Chairgirls won both games, 5-1 and 4-1. Kick-off 2pm at the 1878 Stadium, Wymers Wood Road, Burnham SL1 8JG.
The Firsts were due to meet Reading away in the league, but they Royals now have a County Cup game, which takes priority.
The U18s were scheduled to play their first JPL League game, at home to Yeovil Town tomorrow. That fixture is still showing on the league website, but @WWFCW say they now have a friendly at home to Epsom & Ewell tomorrow, kick-off unknown.
In the Southern Premier, the top three, Ascot United, Oxford City and AFC Portchester all won, and all are on 16 points, Ascot have a game in hand.
In Division 1N, the two unbeaten sides, Beaconsfield Town and Penn & Tylers Green, drew 1-1 at Holloways Park. Town are top.
In the JPL, that U18s game against Yeovil, scheduled for today, has a status of "Discipline", when other matches have "Scheduled". "Postponed" is also in use. One other league game, in another group, is marked with "Discipline", a 3-0 win for Cambridge City over Goffs Oak. When these two met in the cup, City won 16-0. I would guess that Goffs Oak scratched and City have been awarded a 3-0 win. We may see in the coming days if that is the outcome for the Yeovil fixture.
Aldershot Town v U18s - JPL Warriors League, venue and KO unknown.
Sunday
Firsts v Oxford City - Southern Regional Premier, 2pm, 1878 Stadium, Wymers Wood Road, Burnham SL1 8JG
Slough Town v U23s - Southern Regional D1N, 2pm, Arbour Park, Stoke Road, Slough SL2 5AY
Last Saturday the U18s beat Epsom & Ewell 3-1 in a friendly. Tomorrow the they face an Aldershot side also playing their opening league game. The Shots are planning to run a senior side next season, to give their junior players a pathway.
The U23s travel to Slough Town, who were promoted from Thames Valley Counties D1, from fourth place last season. So far the Rebels have won three and lost three, and last Sunday won 2-1 at Tilehurst Panthers.
The Firsts will be itching to put those two cup defeats behind them, against a flying Oxford City, who are level at the top with a W5 D1 L1 record. They have scored a remarkable 24 goals in their last three games, 6-1 v Badshot Lea, 12-2 v East Oxford in the county cup, and 6-3 last weekend at Woodley. Before that they lost 4-1 at Ascot.
Andover New Street v U18s - JPL Warriors League, 12:30, Charlton Sports and Leisure Centre, Charlton, Andover SP10 3LF
Sunday
Firsts v AFC Varsity - Southern Regional League Cup 1st Round, 2pm, 1878 Stadium, Wymers Wood Road, Burnham SL1 8JG
Andover started their league programme last weekend with a 10-1 win at Hartland Girls Academy. The Chairgirls walkover win over Yeovil Town has been confirmed, they have been awarded a 3-0 win. That means they sit at the top of the table after two games, level with Ascot United, but with a better goal difference of two.
Romsey based Varsity have had three promotions in four seasons since their formation in 2021. Last season's second place finish in Hants Division One was good enough to get them into the Southern Regional D1S. This season they have seven points from seven games, scoring seven and conceding 25, and lie seventh out of ten.
The U18s U23s have no game as it is league cup day and development/reserve teams do not enter.
I completely missed that Emma Newberry had joined Beaconsfield Town three weeks ago. She made her debut as a sub last week, and starts today. Missed because WWFCW didn't mention her departure. It is disappointing that the club shows disrespect to departing players in this way, especially the long serving ones. It's not the Wycombe way.
Thank you Emma, for 10 years of loyal service, both as player and secretary.
Hat-tricks for Eman Kassem, Jess Watkins and Ellen Wardlaw, and a brace for Kayla Potter. It was 10-1 after 63 minutes. At the bottom of the draw, the Chairgirls should face Sholing in the next round, who won 4-2 at Oxford City.
U18s v Ascot United - JPL Warriors League, 10:30, 1878 Stadium, Wymers Wood Road, Burnham SL1 8JG
Sunday
Winchester City Flyers v Firsts - Southern Regional Premier, 2pm, Charters Community Stadium, Hiller Way, Winchester SO50 7SU
U23s v Caversham United - Southern Regional D1N, 2pm, 1878 Stadium, Wymers Wood Road, Burnham SL1 8JG
The top two U18s in their group face each other on Saturday, both with three wins out of three.
Flyers are seventh with seven points from six games. Last Sunday they had a wince inducing 28-1 home win against Overton Youth in the North Hants Divisional FA Cup, a team six divisions below. 14-0 at half time, no let up after the break then. There is even a video on YouTube with all the goals, and an interview with the Flyers' manager. All a bit pointless.
Caversham are bottom with one point from five games. Last weekend they lost 12-1 at Beaconsfield Town in the league cup. Five weeks ago, the Chairgirls won the reverse fixture 5-1, with five different scorers.
Goals from Winchester, all four are really well taken. The volleying technique for Eman's first is fabulous, with the ball coming over her shoulder. It was actually Jess Watkins who scored direct from a corner.
The Firsts will be away to Penn & Tylers Green in the 2nd Round of the League Cup, and not Sholing as I thought. The match will take place at French School Meadow on Sunday 8th December at 2pm. One to look forward to, it should attract a good crowd.
I normally watch all the goals on twitter. Pretty sure Watkins is a blonde haired girl, as she has scored a fair amount of goals this season. That direct corner is not scored by a blonde haired girl. Unless you're saying it wasn't direct and was touched on the way in.
Yes, interesting, only the goalkeeper helped it into the net, it's been credited to Watkins on the league site, and the coaching team submit those details, I believe. Puddefoot normally takes the set pieces, and she was subbed on 80, the goal was 79. I must admit it didn't look like Puddefoot
U18s v Wimborne Town - JPL Warriors League, 10:30, The 1878 Stadium, Wymers Wood Road, Burnham SL1 8JG
Sunday
Woodley United v Firsts - Southern Regional Premier, 2pm, UofR Bulmershe Pavilion, Woodlands Avenue, Woodley
Abingdon United Devs v U23s - Southern Regional D1N, 2pm, Northcourt Road, Abingdon OX14 1PL
Wimborne U18s have won two and lost two, and lost 2-1 last time out, two weeks ago, to leaders Ascot.
Abingdon Devs have won six and lost four, including a 4-0 win against the Chairgirls at Burnham last month.
Woodley, second in the table, with six wins and two defeats, have had a good start, although they have lost three times to Ascot, in league and cup, scoring three and conceding an extraordinary 23 goals to the Yellas. Last season the two Woodley v Wycombe games were both drawn.
I think it's fair to say that Woodley play on the edge. Last season they had a very poor disciplinary record, with 15 yellows, one second yellow, one red and two sin bins. This compares to the Chairgirls' solitary yellow. Cards in this division are rare. So far this season Woodley have four yellows, one second yellow and one sin bin. Wycombe have one yellow.
Former Chairgirls turning out for them this season are Emma Dean, Katie Hudson, Pippa Humphrey and Bonnie Messitt.
