@DJWYC14 Just to clarify, we would only get £100k if we actually won the trophy (£50k for winning the semi and £50k for winning the final). The runners-up would receive £50k for winning the semi. The losing semi-finalists receive no further prize money.
Well like the majority I was against this from the very conception. I can however with hindsight, see the value in the prize money thus far plus the extremely valuable game time it has given the fringe players. As we have no 2nd/reserve team set up it has proven as useful tool. Still don't want the Premiere B tens in it next year. Would consider it if their B teams were made up of only players that would qualify to play the English national team. After all that was the original USP wasn't it?
Love the money this brings in, love the game time it gives squad players, and really enjoyed the WHU kids match where we bullied them and taught them a reality lesson - welcome to lower league football. Looking forward to the draw

Supporters trust owned the club before GA appointment, so unlikely to have been him.
There is a counter view to your arguments Bacon. it would go along the lines of
1) lower league clubs , particularly WWFC are in desperate need of finances
2) opportunity arose to make potentially significant sums (if we win the final over £250k)
3) only "cost" of this opportunity is playing one match against a premiership U21 team
4) if fans don't want to go to that match, or others, that is their right
5) No precedent has been set re future league membership.
Not sure I fully agree with argument at either extreme, but as normal, don't think its a black or white question. In retrospect, I would have probably have held my nose and voted for the experiment.
Would be interesting how many of those at Blackpool and Mansfield began their journey within a 50 mile radius of HW. And how many began within a 50 mile radius of Blackpool or Mansfield. never forget the influence of the HW exile diaspora on week night away gates.
Good points DevC and well articulated although, I think you are looking at a couple of points rather black and white.
1) I agree some clubs are in desperate need of finances, but that's only because of the Premership filtering down such little money to the clubs. This is what the FA should be challenging, not changing the LDV vans structure.
3) I don't believe the Premership clubs care about the competition at all, they are merely using this as a stop gap to introducing B teams into the league. Anyone not seeing this is naive.
4) People have the right to do this yes, doesn't make it right.

Last night was the first game I have seen in this competition. The prize money is clearly very valuable for the club - £40k for Blackpool, £50k last night, and over £100k if we win the semi final. Many do not agree with the tournament format but trying to look at the bigger picture is has been very valuable game time for some players and offered big financial benefits. Will De Havilland and Max Muller were excellent last night
Whilst the argument that fringe players get a game is certainly true and considering we don't have a reserve or youth team means these players get valuable game time. They would have experienced exactly the same in the old format, without us disgracefully voting for the changes.

And what a ball by Marcus Bean to set up Bayo for the winner!
100k in effect for winning the next game is a huge carrot, not to mention the chance of Wembley.
Clubs used to say that they only made money from this cup if they got to Wembley, so we'd have the actual "usual" money associated with that part too!
Luton and Oxford are clearly the best draws to get.
Bradford or Yeovil away in the semi, and Yeovil in the final the worst!

Even though they walloped us at Adams Park?
