Good to hear that Cambridge are actually doing really well as when I looked at the table and saw they had one point from nine games , I assumed they were doing really badly and thought that their xR was getting very high.
It's already bad enough for the likes of Cambridge that results use the GPG formula (goals per game). They are going to be Peterborough-level livid when their fate this year is decided on PPS (points per season)!
The Valley Terrace didn't cover itself in glory one frosty evening when the Farnborough goalkeeper (John Power?) broke his leg. Bit of taunting, bit of singing ("keeper keeper where's your leg?" which doesn't even make any sense) . His teammates were understandably infuriated. I remember Jim Wigmore making an attempt to get into the crowd and being restrained.
Anyway, regrettable scenes although at the next home game a collection was held for people to donate some money to him (back then the conference was amateur and he was looking at a long spell off work). I think we raised quite a lot, perhaps people were feeling contrite
Why do you feel the need to go out of your way to seek out malicious intent where there is none? I was surprised he was playing at such a low level that’s all never having heard of that club, perhaps I should have spelt that out for those who struggle to ‘join up the dots’. Nothing else to see here. WYNI
Its perhaps worth reflecting on the golden period at Maidenhead when the Gasroom was alive with speculation about us signing Tarpey.
He scored 98 goals in 140 starts at York Road including 4 four goal hauls and 4 other hat-tricks. So pretty much equivalent to 30 goals a season across three seasons.
His legacy really is the role he played in getting Maidenhead promoted to the National League, quite an achievement. As is the fact, that they remain there still.
Heck of a game, Dorking two up thanks to two Young goals, Salisbury then score in the 87th, 94th and 97th minutes, only for Dorking to grab an equaliser in the 100th minute.

Seems as tho he’s torn his acl again. Terrible news for the kid.

Southern League South Div One is pretty low down the pyramid
It may or may not be. Sholing and JGS however play in Southern League Premier South.
Did you mean to write this in response to a player getting a terrible injury?
And if that weren’t unpleasant enough…

Poor guy - and shame on those who laughed at his distress.
Am I right in remembering that David Stockdale personally paid for JGS to have the original op on his cruciate after Wycombe had let him go?
I heard the same thing.

Remember the incident but not the baiting. Pretty isolated maybe as I don't remember it reaching the side terrace (now FA)??
Plymouth's abuse of Alex Lynch as he was stretchered off was the worst I ever heard in this respect.

Probably not just me curious about it. But thanks for explaining.
On the subject of ACL’s, it looks like Dave Tarpey has done his again playing for Marlow and has promptly retired from the game.
Obviously not an ex-player but if anyone deserves honorary ex-player status on the Gasroom it’s Tarps.
Wishiing him a quick recovery.
The greatest ex-player we never had.
Knocked up 580 appearances with 226 goals so a pretty good career.
He did indeed.

For anyone attending the Burton game…
Still think the abuse Beavon got from a significant section of our fans up there was as embarrassing as I've ever heard from Wycombe supporters.
I was thinking about this recently. It felt very uncomfortable behind the goal at his first game back at AP, the chants were pretty vile.
Yeah I agree.... I was cringing. You know when you feel embarrassed for others? I just thought.... what a bunch of dickheads
Great striker for us…remember when he just had to ‘add goals to his game’…and then he did! Brilliant!
Freddie Potts scores for Portsmouth at QPR, 1-1.
Well done Freddie!
Mehmeti scores for Bristol City at Middlesbrough,0-1.
Lyle Taylor has scored for Col U at home to Cheltenham 1-1.
Mehmeti and Potts in the same day? Love it!
Jack Young scores for Dorking
Allsop saves a pen for Blues and surely nails his place as their #1 keeper for the next few months.
Jack Young scores twice for Dorking.
