Re: Aaron Morley
Evatt can come out with all the bluff, bluster and BS that he likes about AM's value and how Wycombe will have to meet that to keep him.
The reality is that Morley was such a big part of Evatt's grand plan that he was prepared to let his go out on a supposedly season long lone. If Morley had not hit the level of form he has shown, and/or Wycombe had not exceeded a mid table position then I doubt there would have been any plan to take him back in January.
Blooms and the people controlling the money at Wycombe are no mugs. They will not pay over the odds for any player. If Evatt and Bolton have come up with a price tag that is unrealistic then they will be stuck with a player they don't particularly want. With Bolton losing loads of money each year they are unlikely to have much to throw around in the January window, so a sensible deal is in everyones interest.
Re: Aaron Morley
For me it is simple, Morley has undoubtedly played very well during his loan period. Bolton have made a public declaration that he will go back to the ‘Tough Sheet’ in January unless we buy him from them at a fee they believe to reflect his market value.
We now have to decide whether signing Morley is a good investment at the quoted asking price, if not, we replace Morley with another squad member or we go and get a replacement and move on.
I would love him to sign but we simply cannot derail our brilliant season based on one player.
Re: Aaron Morley
My first comment on this. But my view is, Morley has undoubtedly been excellent and has played a big part for us this season so far. Would I like him to stay, and us buy him ? Yes of course I would, definitely ! But, Im probably right in assuming that Evatt will want double whatever we are willing to pay, because he's a twat ! I think 500k is about right and would be enough, I bet Evatt wants a million.
So, as much as I want Aaron to stay, I also don't want us to be held to ransom. So he goes back and we move on.
Remember last season everyone was so excited about Potts, he was the best thing since sliced bread, but this season the management team found Morley, who's even better (and Humphries) so what's to say if Morley goes they won't have someone else lined up already who could be better again ?
Re: Merry xmas gasroom
I like the line about the New Year being an exciting opportunity to build. I shall take it to mean they are willing to appropriately fund a promotion campaign.
Or we are getting a a chairlift.
Re: Aaron Morley
Excellent summary. No Morley, we finish 5th and lose the playoff final to Wrexham 3-0. Blooms leaves for relegated Ipswich and <insert name of reviled manager> takes over. 25/26 we finish 15 and ML abandons us, buying what is left of Reading after settling with Bobby C. Reviled manager departs, slagging off the club on social media.
We enter administration early ‘28 and are playing on the Rye in ‘31 cheered on by a small group of supporters who call themselves ‘The real Gasroomers’.
Sign Morley and Blooms lifts the Premier League trophy in ‘31 after we beat Bournemouth 4-1 on the last day of the season (in Saudi Arabia who now host all Premier League games, played in empty stadia with AI created virtual crowds for the TV viewer. Most of the crowd bear a surprising resemblance to Elon Musk and Presidents for Life Ivanka Trump and Vladimir Putin. Apart from the kids who all look like the offspring of Beery Nige and Liz Truss)
Re: Aaron Morley
So we're after Championship football, whatever the cost now? I like to keep up.
And if we don't sign Morley and don't go up he can be The Player ML would not sign who would have secured promotion.
Happy New Year folks ! 😁
Re: Merry xmas gasroom
A belated Christmas wish to you all. Hoping we all get what we wish for in the coming year and remembering those that we have lost on the way as well, this is without doubt the best football forum to debate on. We may not always agree, but at least it is civilised. Cheers everyone. 🍺
