For all the jokes about losing everyone, I think that is a disadvantage over bigger clubs in our division - in other words, if we don't go up, there will definitely be clubs in for some of our talent, whereas if we were a bigger club, we have a better chance of them staying. So even though it's not like completely reinventing the wheel every season, it creates a competitive disadvantage every summer. Even just losing Kone and Low in the summer would make next season feel very different.
In summary: let's go up now and not talk about "not being ready"!

Thank goodness we have the attached hotel which makes money and creditors who are fans and keep extending the closure dates. Running any football club is expensive but that’s more so in the Championship with the higher wage bill. If you can make the promised land of the PL you can probably clear all your debts but as we found out last time it’s expensive even just to stay there. For now though it’s about getting out of L1 for both of us and I’m sure sitting where you are now your board will not want to blow their chances of doing that by letting a player integral to your chances leave. I don’t think any fee or wages will be unrealistic so I can’t see AM not ending up with you.
There is always the possibility that he may not wish to sign for us on a permanent deal regardless of whether we wish to pay the required fee/wages.
However much he is enjoying his football with us (and he certainly appears to be) it may just be an interlude in his career that he has approached in a professional and dedicated manner.

For me it is simple, Morley has undoubtedly played very well during his loan period. Bolton have made a public declaration that he will go back to the ‘Tough Sheet’ in January unless we buy him from them at a fee they believe to reflect his market value.
We now have to decide whether signing Morley is a good investment at the quoted asking price, if not, we replace Morley with another squad member or we go and get a replacement and move on.
I would love him to sign but we simply cannot derail our brilliant season based on one player.

If Morley had not hit the level of form he has shown, and/or Wycombe had not exceeded a mid table position then I doubt there would have been any plan to take him back in January.
Blooms and the people controlling the money at Wycombe are no mugs. They will not pay over the odds for any player. If Evatt and Bolton have come up with a price tag that is unrealistic then they will be stuck with a player they don't particularly want. With Bolton losing loads of money each year they are unlikely to have much to throw around in the January window, so a sensible deal is in everyones interest.
I think it is inevitable that Morley will return to Bolton for 1 January. My best guess is that it is unlikely that anyone else will come in to buy him (assuming the discussion on here that he can't play for an EFL club again this season is correct) and that he will spend January as a bench-warmer at Bolton with the occasional 10-15 minute cameo.
Meanwhile, the offer we put in on 1 January, which is well below Bolton's valuation, will sit in their in-tray and, dependent on how successful we are without Morley in the 8 scheduled matches we have in January, either we increase our offer a lot closer to their valuation (if our form collapses) or they are more inclined to lower their price to nearer ours (if we carry on doing okay and aren't perceived as desperate to sign him as Bolton may hope). Come around 21.00 on 31 January we will find out if either us or Bolton have blinked.
I reckon the deal for Morley is all but done already, or we've got someone else poised to come in (maybe even both). We'd be foolish to let the situation drag out a whole month.
One of the light bulb moments for me this season was the introduction in the second half of a match at Adams Park of both Morley and Humphreys. In all the decades I’ve been watching Wycombe I cannot recall a more dramatic transformation in the pace and quality of the football as a result of just two substitutions.
On that occasion of course it was Humphreys who stole the limelight. But neither of them has disappointed in the meantime. Best pair of regular starter loan signings ever.

But no, there's been a serious debate over whether Aaron Morley will be playing for Wycombe in January and beyond.

I suspect we would have to double if not triple our highest transfer fee to get Morley in on Jan 1st.

If Aaron Morley is the key to getting us into the Championship this season, then I'd certainly be paying £300-500k to lock him in.
There is always the possibility that he may not wish to sign for us on a permanent deal regardless of whether we wish to pay the required fee/wages.
