Aah, if that’s Reading gaol behind him I see the relevance of your post but I didn’t think Oscar looked like that. I’ll get to the bottom of it eventually.

  • Yes, As Norman Stanley Fletcher.

  • Villa confirmed they are recalling Barry from Stockport ....massive blow for them

  • I think Blooms (like GA) will see staying whatever the ups and downs as a way of learning his trade. If we are pushing for success every year and not fighting relegation, his job is pretty safe, and it would take a massive offer to tempt him away. Also like GA, he's not Rooney or Lampard...one bad high profile move could cost him.

(The Rev is probably the exception to that rule...)

  • So going back the logic of some other posters, Stockport should just leave Barry out of the squad for the next 3 games before his return to Villa, considering he has no future with them! Huddersfield and Birmingham both within their next 3, two big games before he leaves.

  • Different situation with Barry, as it's unlikely he'll be playing in League 1 again if loaned out. Probably he'll go to a Championship club, so no conflict of interests.

Anyway, with regards Morley, obviously I'd love to see him here for the rest of the season and beyond. If not, then I trust Blooms to make the right decision by him. Just a personal opinion that if he knew he was going to be playing for Bolton in a week's time, his motivation for trips to Stevenage and Charlton may understandably not be that high. I also appreciate mine appears to be a very minority view!

  • Disagree there @Wycombe85

As both players have had a fantastic first half of the season and certainly in Aaron's case seem to be an excellent character with a good bond with the club and players...I would be very surprised if they are not motivated to end their loans (if they are ending) on a high note.

I think Morley will be well up for it.

  • I have a simple solution: break into Ian Evatt's office and flip his calendar back to September. By the time he thinks it is January again, Morley will have got us promoted!

  • I think Morley knows he will be spending the rest of the season at Wycombe despite Evatt’s best attempts to drive up the amount Wycombe pay for him.

  • It is testimony to the job Blooms has done when we see postings how being promoted to Championship helps to get him to stay.

I really hope the Ownership Group offers Matt a contract extension or whatever, that would be perfect recognition.

99% of all new owners would have wanted to sack him just to get their own man in.

Fair play to them for sticking with Matt and please god, supporting him.

It must be baffling to find exactly the right person for the job right in front of your nose.

Thank you to the Ownership Group and Happy Christmas to every poster, be they home or away.

The gasroom is fabulous, thank you to Dr. Congo and team.

  • I’d be surprised if any club in the top two divisions AREN’T interested in Richard Kone. Whether they have the seven figures needed to sign him (and I’m told Wycombe are not prepared to sell unless there is an outrageous offer) is another story.

  • I don't think we would (or should) entertain anything under £3-5 million.

  • Kone is far from the finished article, but everyone knows that. His value lies in his potential. If AAH2.0 went for £2m then Kone has to be at least £3.5m. Arguably £5m given we’re not far off clinching automatic promotion. I don’t think I’m being exaggerative either.

  • You'd be surprised if most of the premier league aren't interested?

Seems a little bit of a stretch. As much as I'd be delighted if someone wades in with a massive multi million offer.

  • King Kone is doing very well...but he's no Anis Mehmeti.

    Yet.

  • Yes, I sometimes watch him and then read the hype on here and do wonder if I'm missing something. Very promising and developing fast, but doesn't feel Nathan Tyson very obvious huge star material just yet

  • No, but we've also changed, fees are silly generally but represent the difference between the two parties as much as the potential or ability of the player. Nothing I've read into the owner and future plans, or Rich's journey suggest we need to sell him now for a quick buck or let him go for his development.

He's had an odd but brilliant year, going from unknown to hot prospect to prolific genius and has then probably stalled a little in the last couple of weeks as have we compared to the wonderful start, but the season has a long way to run and he's still very young.

Mehmeti had a release clause too.

  • Kone's record suggests he could probably score at all levels- indeed he scored against Villa suggesting he may be able to step up to the Premier league.

His hold play has improved immeasurably and no doubt most Championship teams would at least like him in their squads now.

Selling him would severely damage promotion hopes- so he will command a big fee, although I'm sure a clause was inserted when he signed the new contract.

  • Out of the two, I would prefer Kone on the basis that I think he has more room for improvement.

  • It’s all about the curve of development. At this time it’s less than 12 months of professional football and he’s turned into a quick raw striker into a player with awareness and ability to hold up and link others into the game. If this curve continues at this pace don’t worry about Luton it will be Barca

If Stansfield was purchased by Birmingham for supposedly £15M with a good scoring record last season in the Championship for a relegated team then Kone who has scored at a similar rate to him this season must be worth a third of that fee at the same age.

Kone has not had the benefit of 10 years plus in an academy, he arguably could improve at a faster rate than Stansfield

  • Stansfield scored goals in the championship. That gets the fee up.

If we could manage to go up, and some of our players perform well there, then the fees would skyrocket.

  • If only transfer fees were that logical... Darwin Nuñez cost substantially more than Erling Haaland, in the same window.

  • That is an amazing fact. Wow. Someone who couldn’t hit a barn door with a banjo, versus one of the Premier League’s greatest ever strikers (Haaland).

  • When you factor in wages - the on the book version and the actual, and any other City "methods" going on, i'd wager the Haaland cost is way higher overall.

  • Probably, but it's quite a good one for highlighting how little fees alone really mean.

  • Mbappe to Real Madrid was free but reportedly earns close to £29m a year x5 years
