Up until the medical emergency it was a fairly even game, and certainly not a great spectacle. After the break only one team wanted to win that in my view. We looked totally lost and void of any leadership.
Our January transfer business seems bizarre, the players we’ve signed haven’t improved us at all, arguably we are worse. It makes no difference if you’ve smashed the transfer record 2 or 3 times if the players you’ve signed aren’t very good. Wrexham went out and signed players to directly improve their starting 11.
Dodds needs to be given time to put his own stamp on things and get the players he wants in the summer assuming he’s allowed to but right now we don’t look like promotion material.
It’s probably too late to switch keepers now but Rav being dropped is an absolute disgrace too.
Is this true though?
They've brought the likes of Jay Rodriguez in, who hasn't scored in 9 or 10 goals and looks every bit the average journey man.
And Doddsy won't be picking any signings. That's sort of the whole point now with our head coach model.
The management have just brought in 12 players in Jan without a manager!
Firstly, hope the fan taken ill makes a swift recovery. Great to see our club behave with so much class but would expect nothing less.
With regards to on the pitch matters, I can’t decide how I feel and whether I’m disappointed with the result, the performance, or both. We tried but the game was really lacking in quality apart from the finish for their goal. It was blood and guts and there wasn’t much in it. Have to give credit to their no. 5 and 4 who mopped up everything but the game was largely played in front of them which really played to their strengths.
We certainly lacked invention and poise. Is that the fault of Dodds or the players? Maybe the team without Kone just isn’t good enough for autos. Or simply not good enough ‘in the moments’ without the King. While it’s still very much in our hands, it feels like a big defeat.

It is true in my opinion yes, bringing him in means Fletcher can do 20 mins off the bench as per today and cause problems as per today. They also bought Sam Smith, an extremely good and proven League One striker. In my view that’s decent business.
In fairness not all 12 were signed without a manager. Blooms was here for Bradley and Anders and Dodds for the deadline day signings and Taylor already played for us but yes I take your point.
I agree with everyone who says it was a huge mistake to drop Franco. He was never the most confidence-inducing goalkeeper, but he'd had a fantastic season up to that point, lots of confidence, and has very good distribution.
Norris isn't awful, but his distribution massively lets him down. He's always got a heart attack pass in him, every single game. And his long clearances are skewed or misplaced so often. Those last few minutes with Vokes on were so frustrating because most of Norris' kicks went nowhere near him

Isn't the issue, Wrexham went in to the window, struggling a bit, so needed to really strengthen. We were seemingly in a blip, so just a few squad players felt needed, and a Morley replacement, which we got in Xavi.
Surely the head coach would at least be involved in conversations about signings. I would like to think that in the summer Dodds and Rice get together and discuss what’s needed, then Rice and his team go off and run some data analysis and come back for another meeting with Dodds and discuss who they’ve found that would meet his requirements.
Or does Dodds just find out on the first day of training who’s been brought in and who’s been released, then has to get on with it ?
I didn't think we played too badly. The high defensive line limited Wrexham from getting at us much.
Had the referee got a grip on the persistent fouling then we might have seen a better game. As it was the endless stream of fouls went unpunished and a very scrappy game developed.
Overall, we just aren't good enough to go up. There are some excellent players in there but the group is probably play-off side at most.
I'd put roughly a 5% probability on us making top 2.
Dodds is not the problem. Again, I sound like a broken record, the way we setup we need a number 6. Unfortunately, Simons is suspended and we have no cover.
We were completely in control of that game, but without Kone, Dan is exposed and with no engine aka Simons, Cam is all over the place.
GMac and Fred are weak links for us now (as starters) I’m sorry, that is my opinion and I’ve seen enough in the last 6-7 games.
Xav is back next Tuesday. Hopefully so will Kone.
Now is not the time to panic. We have a game in hand. Wrexham lost Tuesday, we lost today, it happens.

I responded to Blooms exit months ago and said if we complete the job, Dan Rice will be the first to take, and be given, credit. I still stand by that. Equally if we F it up, he will take the flak. Let's see how it goes. Blooms left us in a good position for top 2, fact.
Felt like we played to control the game and took no risks. The stoppage worked badly for us as until then we’d not been great but looked in control- although the big mix up between Taylor and Norris could have easily given them a goal.
Our recent scoring record is not good enough for promotion at all though. If Kone is out for a while we might need to try a new approach.
New approach? When lumping long balls up to Udoh all afternoon works so well?
Was hoping this day would never come but seems to me that Father Time is catching up with G-Mac, reckon he’ll be odds on to retire at the end of the season. Without doubt one of my favourite Wycombe players of recent years but looking a shadow of what we’re used to seeing

Kone was ill today. You wouldn’t have thought he would be out for a while with illness (unless it is a Gavin Grant illness!)

The football we're playing at the moment certainly isn't bringing the best out of him. But then it's not doing much for Fred either.
Fine. Maybe both teams wanted to win the same amount, but only one team seemed to come out after the stoppage with the appearance of a team who had a plan, or who had even discussed what was needed to win the game. They came out firing, we came out looking lethargic and half arsed. I'll return tomorrow after a cool down.
You are completely correct on this.
10 minute warm up before the restart.
The cones came out for Wrexham. They spent the time doing drills and structured routines with their coaches. We spent it passing the ball around among ourselves. This would never have happened under Gaz.
We were totally awful in that last 20 minutes post restart. I'm surprised that more hasn't been made of how poor it was on here.

Good to hear and amazing job by everyone involved. Fingers crossed they make a speedy recovery.
Like the majority (?) of Danish people, Magnus and Anders speak very good English.
Is this true though?

Anders does at least have two championship level players in front of him starting, and a guy on loan from the championship on the bench.
Westergaard not getting a start when we have totally dropped off in goal threat is arguably more unusual.
However, Doddy has said he's a good player and said about fitness etc.

Couldn’t agree more. Well done to all who helped in the emergency as they all rose to the challenge and should be proud of their actions.

Fingers crossed for the fan that had a medical emergency.
I think Morley is the missing something that boy could thread a pass and since he returned to Bolton we’re punting the ball far too often.
Classless choice of language there to say the least
Have a fucking think eh?

If it was window now, it will be very different.

Notable that their number 5 O’Connell got man of the match (at least on stats), he was very good unfortunately.
Looks like Smith’s strike was probably going wide and then took a knick off Scowen.
That doesn't make me feel any better!
Bloomfield did sign Hartridge and Keogh, so it wasn't all top talent, to be clear
Give ken Dodd his tickling stick back and tell him to go.
Er, was this for my comment?
Post above yours i'd imagine! Very unfortunate description!
Ok just read it .

A big problem today was passing it around the back without midfield quality to really take and turn it, with Xavi back that should change
Haven't got it in me to scroll through everything to be honest but has anyone mentioned that their keeper had a blinder?
Just hope that Wrexham fan is ok really, everything else seems pretty unimportant by comparison
You are completely correct on this.
