Below is an extract from a report on RDG.TODAY I can't find any mention of the numbers required anywhere in other reports either.. It seems as though the petition is aimed at the Culture Secretary/Committee to set up an inquiry, rather than a full debate in the House. So it is a case of "the more the merrier". I would like to point out that Ms. Yang is the recently elected Member of Parliament in which the SCL/Mad Stad is located, who is doing all she can to help us. I've known it as the Mad Stad since it was built, very appropriate these days.
We are calling for the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee and the Business and Trade Select Committee to launch an inquiry into the ownership and governance affairs of Reading Football Club since 29 May 2012 on grounds of public interest, with a particular focus on the governance of Reading Football Club since May 2017.
Ms. Yang has been working in Parliament to apply pressure to the current ownership, securing a debate on sustainable football club ownership which will take place at the start of March; she also met Sports Minister Stephanie Peacock and pressed her to ensure that the Football Governance Bill and the Independent Football Regulator will have the powers needed to force irresponsible owners to sell when necessary.
Odd maybe that is a petition on the local MPs website rather than one of the official government sites where they are compelled to at least answer the question.
Also as a government MP who is she trying to convince? surely she could ask the relevant department to investigate herself. Hope it's not just trying to get a bit of local publicity for her own sake but it does look like it.
As she has been active in our cause since being elected, I don't think this a publicity for herself. Maybe it is a case of showing how many supporters of our and other clubs are wanting something to be done about rogue owners of clubs throughout the country, when she approaches the secretary/committee.
As for Rob's case I doubt if anyone knows when his case is heard. Dai is counter suing Rob now so it could take years to get to get to court for all I know Link to the latest I have heard below.
I’ve cheated. I’ve skipped two pages to get here, thinking that there surely can’t be anything new or unmissable since the end of last month. Am I right or have there been some substantial developments?
Reading Football Club can confirm it has committed to a letter of intent with a potential purchaser of the club.
The parties will now enter a period of exclusivity to complete final due diligence and legally complete the tansaction. Whilst timelines cannot be guaranteed, the structure of the deal should allow for a quick completion, which would be for the benefit of all concerned.
Whilst we understand our supporters' wish to know the purchaser’s identity, at this stage, confidentiality is preferred to complete at the earliest opportunity.
The club can confirm the agreed sale includes the transfer of Mr Dai’s shareholding in The Reading Football Club Limited, as well as the Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park Training Facility.
I thought the same, I hope it is because while he will steady the ship he will also asset strip the youngsters and replace them with experienced pro’s.
I wouldn't put it past him! I just cannot get excited about this news, having heard it so many times already. The optimistic in me wants to believe the takeover will happen this time. The pessimist in me me thinks Dai has found another fall guy, who will pay the bills for a couple of months and then it all falls through.
According to this Reading Chronicle report, we may owned by a real life Dell Boy! However in other reports he has loaned money to other clubs secured against their stadiums. Will the EFL allow this takeover or block it citing Conflict of Interest?
Dell seems to hang around badly run football clubs offering to loan them money, presumably at a premium, the other guy mentioned at least has owned football clubs before. Hope the bit about RCs situation not holding things up proves true.
It's never really Michael Dell but rather MSD Partners and/or MSD Capital behind the loan to an individual or group - usually Platek - which is secured against the ground.
Sunderland, Derby, Everton have all been in their sights. With such pedigree what could possibly go wrong?
March 21 RFC v Couhig case to be heard - separate from other case.
Deal screwed until Couhig gets out of the picture, currently is blocking various aspects and making counter claims etc., March 21 case will hopefully clear it all up
Note this court case is the club, not Dai. RFC is hoping, it seems, to stop RC keep serving injunctions (preventing the transfer of Bearwood and the Stadium) and therefore preventing the sale going through.
Not the best way for Rob Couhig to endear himself to the Reading fans, is it? Many fans will think Rob is now putting self interest first and does not care about the club. The longer this impasse between Dai and Rob goes on the nearer the club gets to non-existence,
The full disclosure/discussion can be heard on Radio Berkshire just after 3PM on 8th. March.
No Idea if he's held things up or ultimately been the thing that forced Dai into some movement. Sounds like if this goes through he'll end up just as an annoying footnote in a dreadful story he should probably never have touched. Limited sympathy from here or your side I'd imagine.
He'd likely bite their arm off, he may have wasted £12m but there's likely no good reason for him to have done so, or any realistic scenario to compare against with him getting that back himself if he is allowed to buy it.
Poetic justice if he then splaffed it up the wall - to quote a former prime minister - on a misguided, arrogant and incompetent attempt to take over Reading. Rob Couhig needs to learn he's not the messiah, he's just a very out-of-his-depth boy.
That was fine for Reading fans when he was the only option against the mad man. Will be less palatable for them if he's been the one holding things up against someone who might be a better bet anyway.

Signed, good luck.
Do you know how many signatures are required before an inquiry is triggered, or is it not that straight forward?

Any word on when Robs case is heard?

Only those in my last two posts above. If you had asked if we are any nearer to a solution, my shortest answer would had been..... No,
Them bloody MPs getting themselves publically involved in local issues...

Do we think this is RC or is he on standby to sue whoever else it is?
I thought the same, I hope it is because while he will steady the ship he will also asset strip the youngsters and replace them with experienced pro’s.
Knowing their luck it'll be Dai Yongge wearing a hat and calling himself Guy Dongge

Surely Platek can just hand a couple of million to Couhig to shut him up and get the deal done.
But, Couhig wants 12 million from Dai! Would he settle for a measly two mill?
He'd likely bite their arm off, he may have wasted £12m but there's likely no good reason for him to have done so, or any realistic scenario to compare against with him getting that back himself if he is allowed to buy it.
Rob Couhig got just over £12M from the Wycombe sale. He is certainly making some serious money out of his involvement in the EFL.
Or he's wasted it already sticking an oar in where it isn't wanted. Time will tell.
Poetic justice if he then splaffed it up the wall - to quote a former prime minister - on a misguided, arrogant and incompetent attempt to take over Reading. Rob Couhig needs to learn he's not the messiah, he's just a very out-of-his-depth boy.
Odd question to ask if RC really cares for Reading or for his money. Surely he was only ever in it for the money?
