If either of them have any money left, which is questionable, the lawyers will take it quite happily. Appreciate RC is one but not sure if that will help him here .
Oh my goodness. Rob is hanging on to the training ground despite being paid back further causing other talks to break down.
The man left us to retire to a quiet life and less than a year later has somehow got himself neck deep in an international lawsuit against a Chinese national with one of our local rivals caught in the middle. What on earth is he thinking?
Did the long winded, but positive outcome, from the Derby scenario give Rob a false perception he could do the same again? Following the counter claim he must realise he needs damage limitation and cut his losses. Jarndyce v Jarndyce springs to mind
"Whatever happened to Reading FC" is more likely to be the title. It is just unbelievable, if you want to see a grown man cry just knock on my door when this saga ends. They will be tears of joy if it is a happy outcome or despair if it goes the other way.
What will remain a mystery is how he found himself in this position. We all knew/assumed that he did not have the resources to do this on his own so was part of a team. Yet he is the sole face of this debacle. From popping up in social media posts to legal cases even he must reflect on the past 12 months and wondered what the hell happened.
'Rob Chewed the Handle', the new name for the exciting New Orleans tribute band. Frontman Gaz delights concert goers with hit singles such as 'Worldwide Phenomenon', 'Best Hot Dog ever', 'Up the Wyc' and 'My best mate Lommy'. Check out the greatest hits collection now (it won't be reduced!).
I imagine we might see some movement the moment it is mathematically impossible for Reading to make the playoffs. Admittedly that movement could be administration...
Yes, player sales of our young players are probably making a profit in recent years Olise's sale and then sell on fee plus Smith's 2 million (who came through the acadamy before going to Cambridge) and other sales last season quite likely far outweigh the cost of running the Acadamy, but not the cost of setting it up in the first place.
Winding up is more likely than administration as it is only Dai who could put the club into it and he would lose out if he went that way. If he went for the former he would also lose out as well, but I am sure he will enjoy putting us fans though the wringer. Don't forget he has done this twice before when he could have put those clubs into administration.
I fear you may be right that the usual rules of business don't apply with Dai Yongge, though in normal circumstances where an absentee owner wants to rid himself of a football club, administration would usually be the route they'd go down.
Hopefully Reading and football as a whole will be rid of him sooner rather than later.
Another route that could unfold. Reading FC not being able to show they have enough funds to see out next season and the EFL kick us out of the League. I am not too sure of the implications if this was to happen. Which league could we play in? Would it be the same club still? i.e. the one formed in 1871. Would it encourage Dai to sell? Would he be able to sell it in non-league? Would he want the hassle of selling for a much reduced price? There are so many different ways this mess can/will/if be resolved.
Very sad that you're having to think in those terms but as I understood it you do have to provide some assurances that you can fulfill your fixtures each year
The "Bury" outcome is also a potential outcome - a zombie football club in no league with no players but does own the bricks and mortar while a phoenix club plays at Combined Counties League level.
I get the impression Yongge is a gambler chasing his losses, hopefully at some point he's going to cut his losses and just put the whole episode behind him. Whatever prestige owning Reading FC as a trophy asset may have given him in the circles he moves in surely has long worn off with his name becoming mud through his catastrophic mismanagement.

Why does someone of Rob’s age and wealth put up with all this? Wouldn’t he be better going on a world cruise or something?

I've stopped questioning anything Americans do by this point
A Reading pal told me they've apparently turned down a £2m bid for a teen player who has barely made an appearance.
He took that as a sign something is happening with the takeover, as otherwise said Dai would have hoovered it up.
The art of the deal.

Reading that article, seems like Rob Couhig has bitten off more than he can chew. Such a shame.

Like all American Millionaires, went on an acid trip and woke up at Trump's inauguration?

With Missy running the merch table before and after the show. Best pre purchase to avoid out of stock disappointment .
And on the saga goes.

Not ideal but not surprising as RC is holding onto his legal right to block any other sale at least until the next court case.
Meanwhile another two players sold, more legal fees, more annoyed punters, and a potential buyer lost or delayed.
But they've still got their category 1 Acadamy. I assume Yongge is still funding this.
With the player sales it's likely it's funding itself.
