Travel & Ground tomorrow

  • Would have to visit to decide.

And whether it's better than that other museum near the train station that incorrectly gets thought of as the chair museum.

  • Any parking suggestions for tomorrow ?

  • Coming from the city centre, go past the ground on the right, just a bit further on turn left into road named Ditton Fields, goes onto a housing estate where you can park on the roadside. Have parked there a few times, has always been safe, also no restrictions as far as I know.

  • Any pub recommendations?

  • Loads of street parking about a quarter of mile from ground in residential areas.

There is a fair bit of residential street parking on the East side and North sides of the ground, which home fans use - coming out of town on the Newmarket Road, in Ditton Fields area (left just beyond the ground as mentioned by @NewburyWanderer or further beyond the ground to the right on Barnwell Road and off to the right on from Barnwell Road on that estate.

Driving from Wycombe and arriving on the A14 from the west or the M11 from the south though I probably would avoid the city and I would go take the A14 motorway standard dual carriageway to go round the north side of Cambridge towards Newmarket, leave on the exit for Horningsea (it is 2nd after the one for Histon / Cambrige and next after the one for Milton/ Cambridge) and take a right once you have left the dual carriageway which takes you through the village of Fen Ditton into Cambridge. You reach the Newmarket Road further out of town than the ground and need to turn right (either lane is ok at the traffic lights). It is only a couple of hundred yards to a roundabout with a McDonalds on the right, the ground is about a quarter of mile straight on. Take a left for Barnwell Road area as above or carry straight on and the Ditton Fields area is on the right.

Alternatively if you don't like the idea of street parking turning left onto Newmarket Road after going through Fen Ditton will bring you to the Newmarket Rd Park and Ride site in about half a mile. They do a £3 match day fare stopping at the ground on the way back into town. I have just looked - the Cam Utd website says that the £3 fare is per person, but kids are free.

According Nick Hornby's timeless 'Fever Pitch' naughty people used to go into the allotment behind the away terrace and throw vegetables at away fans.

Alas Cambridge have now built a soulless stand many yards away from the the goal making it a crap away 90 minutes.

(A lovely city to visit before/after obviously)

  • Except we are not in that soulless stand tomorrow. We are in the terrace to the side.

  • Oioi!

    Watch out for Mr MCGregor

    @Kim_il_Swan 's dad

  • If it's still the same as it was for the Eze game it's fine if a bit basic. Can't remember if you get a decent view of the far end, luckily Eze was scoring from miles out. Looking forward to it.

  • Did we establish a pub?

  • The Cambridge Blue is quality.

  • Anyone know why that stand is so far from the goal line? Was / is the long term plan to shuffle the pitch 10 yards that way?
