Can only imagine being care taker manager at Sunderland would have been enormously stressful we know how their fans can be as are many of the so called big clubs in the lower leagues. The way the club is currently set up it seems the team playing structure is set from the top , players being identified on data and everyone at the club goes with this plan . So if he is a really good coach and we have this set method it could work well. i’m sure the club can see teams are sussing us out so we need a plan b and c too can he do that or is this is all part of the playing structure .
Not getting into predictions as there's nothing to say an experienced manager hits the ground running and everything clicks, and I don't know too much about this guy but he seems well respected, wonder if a Chelsea or Man Utd coach would be greeted more enthusiastically for no particular reason. It's not particularly fun or inspiring but that doesn't matter.
The negatives seem similar to what people were saying about the two Sam's though, no real managerial experience, or experience of taking a team in our position over that finishing line, and if it goes badly for a few weeks will everyone lose their minds and it all spiral away?
He wouldn't be my choice but I see how he fits the model.
I think it’s time to give up the Gasroom now. I am totally fed up with this Blooms v Rice rubbish. People just seem to want to continue this nonsense even though we have a team competing for automatic promotion.
Add me to the list. Whatever has happened behind the scenes can’t be changed and our focus now must be helping the players as much as we can. There will always be differences of opinion about the direction our club is going in and I remember countless times having to be the Henry Kissinger between Martin O’Neill and Ivor Beeks after they’d disagreed on something. The club is bigger than any one person.
Strewth, the Sunderland fans seem to be queuing up to drive him down here. General consensus seems to be ok coach, terrible head coach and uninspiring playing style. He has some fans on there though.
Tbf I've looked through the Sunderland page on the forum, and there's prob a lot more of them saying he's a very good coach, and good bloke than there are ones slating him
MB is going to be coming under pressure soon. Lose today and whatever short honeymoon period he had will be over. They have a very difficult away match at Sheffield Wed today, so he’s got to start getting a response from the squad. Whatever package they gave him, a relegation won’t be part of it. A failure to land Kone won’t be a good look either. I love the boy and wish him all the best, but sod off for now. The King is ours.
Most of the reasonable Sunderland fans seem beside themselves at the others attitude toward him. He’s clearly a very good coach or he wouldn’t have survived that long with different management teams, some of who wanted to take him (Alex Neil).
I think comparing him to Sam Grace is utter nonsense. Not sure Grace has been near the first team until recently. He’s done incredibly well but I don’t see his future at the helm.
He can't be that bad if they asked him to be interim/caretaker 3 times, obviously didn't appoint him as permanent on any of the numerous changes they made but they do think a lot of themselves up there.
Sickeningly young but looks like a very decent coaching record straight from school pretty much and the lines in his bio around helping the youth setup to produce some real quality players would have gone in his favour.

Sunderland fans seem to think he's a great coach but not head coach material.
Maybe he's a changed man but it feels, if he really is our new head coach, like Sam Grace is being replaced by another club's Sam Grace.
That interview had 'Alan Partridge being arrested for stealing a traffic cone' vibes.
Let’s face it, go one down in game and a few people start losing their minds. It’s the way football is now.
Look at the matchday threads on here - speak your brains merchants all over the place. ‘We’re shit… we’re beautiful.. get him off… what a goal’.
Exhausting.
Anyway, the first Dodds at Wycombe since the mighty Rowan?

Luke’s a fan at least…

One “Sam Grace” for another “Sam Grace”. Spot on.
If people speak their brains, that would explain the idiocy and simplicity of some posts.

Focus on the positives.
I am with you @Blue_since_1990 it is time to focus on the adventure ahead and what an adventure that might be ...

@Konetheming has a proud 100% record of not supporting any Wycombe manager (even the interim one) to maintain.
Amen
Interestingly Mike Dodds’ brother Daniel is a scout for Borussia Dortmund.

I’m clearly going to give the guy a blank page and wish him all the very best , hopefully he’s learnt from whatever has happened at Sunderland.
The same fans that didn't rate Josh Scowen?
You'd really hope some of that at least was down to overentitled fans, an unstable setup and players with a bad attitude....
As long as he brings Luke O'Nien back with him I welcome Dodds with open arms (and a feather duster?)
