Think I mentioned it before, but i have mused that the contract extension was more in recognition of his squad status - I.e. he was originally talked of/signed as a member of thr development squad.
But with the number of appearances and goals/performances it triggered a new deal that recognised him as a first team player and came with an additional year and (likely) wage rise that comes with being a first team player.
Or at least that’s how I’d structure a deal with a player coming from non league that we think might be good but is still a bit of a risk and gives him an incentive to push on.

Or they could be dead rubbers…

bid rejected (again) - presuming “next June” means 2026?
Yes June 2026, guess the recent new contract was just an automatic contact extension based on appearances.
That'll be our victory lap.

To summarize the online debate over Kone:
People who have not seen Kone play: "7m? You are having a laugh! He is not worth anywhere near that!"
People who have seen Kone play: "7m? You are having a laugh! He'll be worth at least 10m in the summer!"
Excellent 😁
That says Kone has refused to sign a contract extension which is bollocks and he wants to play in The Championship with Wycombe.
