There’s truly crazy money floating around just waiting to be spent. If we absolutely have to lose Kone, let’s get our hands on as much of it as we can. These deals can go right to the wire and we are no longer a selling club. I don’t think he’ll go, but then I didn’t think MB would go to Luton.
February, March and April facing a relegation battle in the Championship and Luton aren’t going to let him go if they do indeed get relegated, in which case it is another season in League One. I would be staying put until the summer in the hope of Championship football with my current club or a full season somewhere else if a suitable offer comes in. Leaving now is far from a no-brainer under these circumstances
Agreed, he will get much better offers in the Summer. His relationship with MB will be his main motivation to go to Luton. If I was his agent, I would be advising him to stay put for now, but then I’m a Wycombe fan.
Much as I would love him to stay is there anyone of us who could forgive him for wanting £15 to £20k a week? Considering his story I think I would have to swallow my personal feelings and salute him.
The first half of the season was spectacular. What, with Morley pulling the strings with his great range of passing, Kone scoring more goals than anyone in the division, and club legend Bloomfield holding it all together in the dug-out.
Absolutely no reason why we can't replicate... oh
Just kidding. Maybe the Danes really will be great.
if it were a premier league club coming in “in excess of £5m” it would probably wish him well, send him on the way with a smile and look forward to seeing him scoring on MOtD.
But Luton coming in at that, and them quite possibly being a league rival of ours next season (one way or another) it suddenly doesn’t seem like enough.

I sincerely hope Richard stays but if he does go then we can still push on and achieve promotion.
If Richard does go I’d like to be whisked forward, ‘My Summer with Des,’ style to the day after our play off defeat.

But we have absolutely no need to sell. We don't need the money, and he's not close to the end of his contract.
His value won't be going down between now and the summer. Why are so many fans trying to offload him?
Let him stay and take us up. Let him go in the summer for properly serious money. He's a Wycombe legend for life
But he might want to go?
Like... No, I won't say it 🤐
well, he signed a contract extension a matter of weeks ago. And if we ask him to give us until June it's hardly a lifetime is it?
If he carries on playing as he's been playing and indeed improving as he's improving he will have better options in the summer
Luton's latest bid was "in excess of £5m" per Pete O'Rourke

5.01m suddenly feels small potatoes when he'd originally said 6m
I wouldn't sign a contract if it didn't have a relegation release clause!

Several errors in that article. Also mentions that he came from Carshalton Athletic??
Yeah, they've made a meal of that, but O'Rourke tends to be right
Yep, I'm sure he loves it here, I'm sure he owes us one etc.
But tripling your wages or better immediately versus what might happen in future is a tough ask to turn down.
I don't know, his Agent might like a nice windfall now!
And Luton aren’t going to spend £6m on a player and offer him an easy way out a few months later.
If Kone stays and this time next year has 10+ championship goals he would be worth 20 million or more. A lot of ifs but not inconceivable

And if he stays and gets seriously injured or loses form , he may be worth nothing and never get the big wage.
Lets see where this ends up
If he stays and gets seriously injured he may be worth nothing.
if he stays and fails to score for the rest of the season he will still be worth millions.
Football is very much in the moment. His stock would drop very quickly if the goals dried up.
Yes but he’d still be worth millions. There is little risk in keeping him until the end of the season.
Talking of 'IFs' ...
IF he stays and helps get us promoted
IF he then performs well in the Championship, scoring enough goals to keep us in the top half
Then bids will come in from the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, etc. in the region of £20m+
Please put the numbers into your spreadsheet, Mr Rice.
It’s actually a £20 mill deal with all the add-ons
Absurd
i’m a little bit in two minds.

Let's face it this time last year if any player was being touted at £5million we would be having an open top bus parade. Strange times.
