  • It's not my money, so I say keep him! To Lommy, 6 million is change that fell down the back of the sofa three years ago, and is covered in lint.

(Unless Kone is dead set on going, which makes the whole thing difficult).

  • Then we tell him he can't go until simmer

  • Agreed, hopefully Richard may want to help his teammates achieve their goal to win promotion prior to moving on.

  • I fear that would pretty quickly bring things to the boil

  • I've got time to correct my typo, but it's set up some puns and goodness knows we need that

  • BUT, we don't want this bubbling away all season

  • Hopefully he plays tonight and lets off some steam

  • I would agree our owner probably is not concerned with £6M, his wealth increases by that much in a few days.

However with SCMP in League One a windfall of £6M would allow us to increase our wage bill this season by £3.6M (60%) if we are just below the thresholds, if we are already well over those thresholds (Depends on Equity Injections) then we might need to sell if no other owner equity injections are forthcoming to allow us to balance the books as such within SCMP.

It may not be a simple sell or not sell.

  • Kone is raw...but for me, the advantage over Udoh is his only thought is to score. If he gets the ball he lays it off and is away towards the goal for the return pass and once he has it back, he can hold off players to get off a shot. This season, he's been one of the best strikers I have ever seen for us so I can understand the interest. Losing him will be a blow for certain. Not fatal to promotion as Udoh and Lubala can do a job, but a big blow...so I would hope the management group can see that and hang on until the summer. The thought he was on the bench because his head was turned would mean his head was turned for half the season he's spent not starting!

  • i think we could have replaced Kone with the Nov 2024 version of the team with Morley’s creative skills.

He is an absolutely vital component of the Jan 2025 version as he brings an ever-increasing skill set with an ability to bring the unexpected that can’t easily be replaced and we really need if we want to win games against teams who come to defend.

The unknown in all of this is what the Feb 2025 version with the new players integrated into the squad/team will be like.

Hopefully we will find out with RK still leading the line…

I genuinely hope we do keep him however much is offered, as he is an absolute pleasure to watch. But personally I will be shocked if he is still with us after the window closes.

But if he does go I really wish him well. He has been a pure delight.

  • Phil just said there are rumours that TeamS (multiple) bidding for Kone, one being Luton.

  • can't blame him, he is far to good for us especially if we are not in the promotion hunt , players around him are average ...we need a top manager to get best out of them ...we all know that Grace is not that man

  • Not normally a fan of banning people.. but you're running me close fella

Kone is simply not going to lose value unless he is injured. Bear in mind that besides promotion, he also knows the top scorer trophy is very much on - that is a lot to walk away from for a relegation battle.

    He's under contract, keep him.

  • I've ignored him but everyone quoting him makes his drivel show up again. Damn you all ;)

  • Kone is going to be worth more money at the end of the season, so why sell him now. Also 6- 10 million is just small change to our owner. Tell Luton and Bloomfield to do one.

  • At this rate, he'll have Premier League clubs knocking at the end of the season. He really is that good.

Some of those posters earlier saying that he's replaceable and that we should cash in asap looking a little bit silly tonight imo.

  • I have seen at least Fulham and Everton fans online ask their club to get on the case.

    Household name within three years?

  • So, what if.. a Fulham or an Everton came in and offered us 10 million and loaned him back to us for the rest of the season ?

  • We are in the promotion hunt and who do you think gives him the opportunities to score. Fred wins the penalty and GMac pops one straight on his head for his second.

Sam Grace has 7 points from a possible 9, that’s to be applauded but he won’t get the job, we need him in the academy where his skills are much better suited.

We are giving ourselves a platform to finish in at least the Playoffs and we now see clear daylight between us and third/fourth.

This is our finest ever season in the EFL. Enjoy it and spread some joy rather than all this negativity.

  • Lloyd Jones has signed a new contract at Charlton and is staying there. I assume Joe Low will therefore definitely be staying here

  • Until his contract runs out at the end of the season

  • presumably much depends also on which division we find ourselves in next season, and who the new head coach is?

  • i would like to think if we get promotion Joe will be keen to stay with us andwe will want to keep him so will offer another contract

  • Judging by how much the media team are gushing over King Kone this morning (plus even letting him do his post match interview, let alone his responses) I am becoming increasingly convinced that he's here to stay for the season.

I don't think there's any point selling Kone now.

We would get 6m minimum at end of season if he keeps scoring, if we don't go up.

If we do go up and he keeps scoring, it could be triple that easily. Or owner might then really spend in championship.

  • At the moment, it looks like Kone has got the attention of lower half Championship sides, if he keeps going on his current form, the top half clubs will def be interested and several Premier League sides would also be taking an interest.

I certainly don't want him to go but at the same time, this is football where money talks and the players' can hold clubs are ransom by running down their contract and leaving for free. (I know we'd get some compensation if that was to happen)

  • Magnificent.
