I'm fairly sure any talk of 10 million is coming from Wycombe fans saying that's all they'd accept. The only rumour out there is 6m (still a lot of money). Suggestions in the Match Day Thread that he isn't in the squad tonight...
Not sure why people are shocked by the fee. Luton will have a large pot of money for transfers and he’s their no.1 target. Do some of you not attend games? Kone’s movement off the ball and his physical presence and predatory skills will cope fine in a league up!!
Red Dwarf is back on the Iplayer and the episode 'Polymorph' is one of their best, An alien that can shapeshift and look like anything invades the ship and the crew go insane shooting at anything that they think might be the alien.
This place has gone a bit like that as any random rumour on the internet instantly becomes fact and everybody shits themselves.
Another reason why Kone is prob being hunted so much by Luton is that he won't be included in their squad allowance as he's still an U21 player. I have no idea what their squad registration status is currently
Isnt the flip side of that that he doesn’t count in our squad numbers so replacing him (or indeed buy another player in another position) would mean a second player would need to depart?
He has and it may be absolutely nothing. I'd be astounded however if he's still a Wyc player by the end of the transfer window. Anyhow there must be some decent strikers in Denmark....
So do I, I wouldn't sell for 6 million, someone will still pay that at the end of the season even if we don't go up, if we do it should be 10 Mill at least.
Also, I just think he can do better than Luton, if he goes there and doesn't score for a few games they will turn on him, whereas we wouldn't
Also worth pointing out that Kone is currently outscoring a £15M striker in the same division. Appreciate that Stansfield has a few Championship goals to his name, but are we really accepting that his worth is considerably less than half that of Stansfield?
Completely agree, and I'm not suggesting we should be holding out for that amount. £6M for Kone seems crazy, but £15M for Stansfield was utterly bonkers. But it is I'm sure a bargaining chip we have in our favour.

But is any of it from a trusted source like Pete O?
No; it’s just gossip through accounts with low amounts of followers, for the moment.

Danny Devito now 4/1 for the Wycombe job after mention on the Gasroom.
Luton set to sign Wigan’s Aasgsaard for 3m according to Pete O’R
Thelo Assgaard to Luton from Wigan for £3M. Midfielder apparently. Being reported by Peter O’Rouke.
I thought his odds would be shorter
Hope we ‘get shorty’.
Luton have just signed Kal Naismith on loan as well so they are def making movements in the transfer market

@TheDancingYak I made this point earlier on today!
Perhaps why Kone was on the bench on Sat. Head turned etc...Of course SG is going to come out and positively reinforce Kone's commitment
Kone has started on the bench on numerous occasions this season.
And he didn't play like someone who's head has been turned
He could have just been rested ahead of a "tougher" opposition tonight?
He has and it may be absolutely nothing. I'd be astounded however if he's still a Wyc player by the end of the transfer window. Anyhow there must be some decent strikers in Denmark....
Nope, sorry old chum
It is remarkable how far he is come in a year but that doesn't mean he should be undervalued and sold with our blessing
As mental as it is, £6M would be an absolute steal in today's market and Luton would make a massive profit on that within two years.
Another way to look at it is this: how much is promotion worth to Wycombe? And if Kone stays, will we go up?
My answers to those are: a hell of a lot more than £6M. And yes, I genuinely think we do

I haven’t quite arrived in the brave new world where we can turn down six million British pounds for a player. But maybe I’ll get there soon.
Exactly this.

But Stansfield isn't really worth 15m. That's just the state of the market.
Worth = The state of the market
But it's never that straightforward, hence Nuñez costing Liverpool considerably more than Haaland cost City in the same window.
Then again, Kone seemingly doesn't have a release clause, so we could probably go as high as we like.

I can already feel the sense of disappointment and grief spreading across AP when the team news is revealed at 6.45...
