An unamed league one club has made an enquiry for Daniel Barlaser from Middlesbrough. He is a ball playing number 6 so I wonder whether he is a possible Morley replacement.
It would arguably be so yes. What I can see is we desperately need Morley or a Morley replacement. Reckon that is arguably more important than keeping Kone.
no word, personal feeling is its got to be close to being accepted, that money allows us to go re invest and for how good kone is/will be (i still think hes far from the finished product) we could replace him for the here and now.
We should be biting Luton's hand off for 6m. Sell Kone and get Morley in asap. Morley was absolutely fundamemtal to everything good over the last few months. Kone can be replaced. If Udoh had started the same number of games up top as Kone (and had been on pens) the goal returns wouldn't be hugely different is my guess. 6 million for someone who's had half a decent season. It's crazy.
I suppose the worry is it's late in the window. Once we accept that bid (if we do) then every seller knows we are £6 million up, and any fee for their own striker would go through the roof.
It's a very tough decision to make, but I stand by my thoughts that without Kone we absolutely won't get promoted.
I'm not sure I agree with this I'm afraid. I'm a big fan of Udoh, but Kone is on another level. He makes things happen in a way I haven't seen from a Wycombe player in years. I'm extremely confident we'd be sacrificing promotion this year if we agree to sell.
I don't think there is a gulf in terms of overall hold up/approach play and workrate. However I think there is a clear gulf in terms of finishing ability
Understand your point but Kone is 100% replaceable. Far from the finished article (aware of how high his ceiling 'could' be). We're talking about 6m. Say it out loud. 6m!
If Kone was to go (god forbid) then I'd be going all in on Alasanna Jatta from Notts County. 20 goals in 34 games for Notts County, and played with Magnus Westergaard at Viborg.
To be clear though, I think losing Kone would be more disruptive to our season than any of the other losses so far (Morley, Taylor, Bloomfield)
Richard Kone is already streets ahead of Dan Udoh. His hold up play, positional sense, strength on the ball and distribution are all superior, never mind the eye for goal.
The prospect of Luton being able to acquire him, see him scoring goals for fun and ultimately making a nice profit when he moves on doesn’t bear thinking about.
Quality player. According to football manager 24 though (!) he requires a work permit or one of our slots (forget the name). Or perhaps he now qualifies?
Kone is not currently streets ahead of Udoh. Does he have the potential to be, yes, absolutely. But we all know potential is not always realised for one reason or another. I'd be astounded if Wyc don't accept the silly money which has reportedly been offered by Luton with a significant sell on clause.
Bear in mind that IF (and a big if) we sell Kone, we'll either need to sign another U-21 player OR sell / release another player so that we can register his replacement as we are maxed out on our League 1 registration.
This could end up being a massive headache for the club
Sadly, this old camel’s back is ready to break but but I’m clutching desperately for straws, hoping my optimism about the rest of the season doesn’t totally desert me and that I don’t well and truly get the hump.

6m is a lot of cash for any player at our level.
Bugger.
barlaser on loan.....this isnt def info

Interesting... has played a fair amount of football for Boro recently. Any word on King Kone @kipper ?
Telegraph reporting that Derby have also enquired about Barlaser.
Would be an absolutely incredible signing but not sure why he’d join us over Derby.
dare i say would be an upgrade on morley, interesting to see if its us, would think wrexham, birmingham or huddersfield more likely
It would arguably be so yes. What I can see is we desperately need Morley or a Morley replacement. Reckon that is arguably more important than keeping Kone.
Barlaser also played for Paul Warne at Rotherham, so I'd imagine we're up against it if that story is true.
Correct yes

Barlaser is exactly what we need. Suits our team perfectly. I would have loved Morley back, but that’s an outstanding alternative option
There's not a massive gulf between Kone and Udoh when Udoh plays as an out and out striker
I'm not sure I agree with this I'm afraid. I'm a big fan of Udoh, but Kone is on another level. He makes things happen in a way I haven't seen from a Wycombe player in years. I'm extremely confident we'd be sacrificing promotion this year if we agree to sell.

No Kone, no promotion. And we should not be settling for 6m.
Understand your point but Kone is 100% replaceable. Far from the finished article (aware of how high his ceiling 'could' be). We're talking about 6m. Say it out loud. 6m!

Selling Kone wouldn't mean signing Morley. The money is there for Morley, but Data Dan doesn't want him

Totally agree, @prufrock_91.
Again: we tried to extend Morley's loan. But anything to get the Dan Rice digs in, eh?

Definitely will be a massive headache for the club.
@kipper Is there any talk of outgoings?
