i can understand why matt would be bidding on kone but he knows we wouldn’t sell and it’s just unsettles the squad maybe that’s his intention who knows .
He might just be bidding for a striker that he knows well and who will improve his present team and knows Dan Rice doesn't really like Richard above and beyond photo-ops trying to show his great connection with the team.
Given Kone’s pivotal role in Wycombe’s promotion ambitions and the club’s strategic plans for sustainable growth, accepting a bid from Luton Town may not align with their objectives. Retaining a top scorer like Kone is crucial for maintaining their competitive edge and achieving long-term success.
There are really not too many realistic options from the EFL itself to get excited about, I'd agree. Part of the reason I am hoping for a Scandanavian genius!
I doubt we would sell Kone without having someone better lined up to come in. Not sure how you would do that with only a few days of the window left to start negotiations. Who’s going to want to lose a top quality striker at this stage of the season?

I've scratched my cornea before and that was painful enough. I dread to think what you'd have to do to scratch the actual iris!
I'm with you on this one @flymofrank, absolutely crazy that this wasn't included as part of Blooms going to Luton

Why?
Whether there is a clause or not, it is our decision whether to accept a bid or not.
Even if a clause existed, they could still suggest a price and if attractive we could waive the clause.
If there was a contractural break clause as suggested, not in our power to insert new clauses anyway.
I assume a clause doesn’t exist given a bid has been turned down and almost every Championship club wants him
Not sure how much we'd have been able to do about that in reality
I think we would sell for the right deal. £6m plus sell ons etc which I doubt anyone will pay now anyway.

Perhaps we'll never know.

'We are very disappointed that Richard Kone decided to leave the club mid-season...'
Doctor asked I haven’t a clue it feels like this.
oh as for the Kone bid, financially we’re in a very strong position but if Luton want to give us their parachute money and pay for our promotion…
I think it was naïve thinking that one existed
I'll vote for that @Brownie . People just repeating and repeating their view one way or the other is just tedious, isn't it?
It's the biggest split in Wycombe Wanderers history since the left side versus right side terrace war
I was trying to think of any clubs managers in League 1 who we should make an offer for but i've drawn a blank as nobody stands out at the moment.

Michael Skubala?
Good shout

This is very true. We are no longer a small-minded club who have to accept offers like we used to be.
(of course that probably changes when current owner sells up).
