My understanding is the timing wasn’t great for Dan Rice, since he was focused on the transfer window, but he’s been speaking to a number of potential candidates. There will be an interview process, although that may have concluded by now. From everything I’ve heard I can’t see Sam Grace being offered it as an interim but it’s football so anything could happen.
See Mark Dennis, Billy Bremner, Roy Keane, Vinny Jones, The Beast of Bilbao, Terry Hurlock, Sergio Ramos, Kevin Ellison plus anyone played/watched Battle of Santiago, Chile vs. Italy early 60s? all drifting odds.
Tommy Doherty at 13/2 still offers value play, Dean Morgan 15/1, Second Coming Our Lord Jesus Christ at 14/1 with Michael Duberry, Neil Davis, James Harper, Carlos Lopez and Trevor Aylott declared Non-runners.
Hot money seems to find a home with Materazzi and Zizou Zidane 8/15 with TalkBolox.com. Seeing money for Elon now 15/8.
You'd know we'd have become a massive club if we start going down the interim manager approach. So we can line up a world class in the summer for the championship campaign and a big to storm straight into the prem.
I've had this chat before with people, I genuinely believe some managers out of work get a couple of people to stick a bet on them and have the odds tumbling.
It gets your name out in the press and people talking about you online etc. Not saying you'll get a job out of it but take leam Richardson for example would his name even be discussed for the role only for the fact he's been backed into favouritism?
I really hope it is not Des Buckingham. Much like Russell Martin, winning the playoffs is great, but a small sample size to base "successful past" upon. Before and after that he did not do much with Oxford, and almost took them out of a playoff spot having taken over around the autos.
Schumacher has the pedigree of relentlessly getting an unfancied team to 100 points in L1 and then going well in the Champo before leaving for Stoke.
I don't think we'll get Schumacher, mind. I expect that once managers have shown they have talent at a given level, they may be loathe to drop down a division.
Perhaps a classic case of Rice getting what he wished for, at a time he did not wish for it. If you are going to strand someone on an island, don't be upset if the rescue boat comes unexpectedly!
Not sure I agree on Buckingham. His CV is very impressive. Worked in different leagues, in different countries and had success in all of them. Also successful at youth international level. I mean, in my view there isn't anyone to match Blooms, but Buckingham, along with Schumacher seem the outstanding candidates to me.
However, our last two managers have been ex-players who were given a chance in our management role. Gaz had a few months experience at QPR and Blooms maybe 6 months at Col U. Both were new to the management game but knew the culture and history of our great club.
With that in mind maybe we could give Sam Vokes a shot at the role. Sam is a very experienced player and already has the respect of all our players and I am sure he is going to be a very good manager in the future.
A risk I know but maybe a short-term contract with a view to extending it if all goes well.
my biggest concern is that we go for a big name who has recently retired from the playing side. My concerns are mitigated somewhat by the feeling that what we do know of the still mysterious Mr L suggests that he and the team he has put in place are focused heavily on track record. Whoever comes in, please let it not be a well capped England footballer of the ‘golden generation’ .
I don’t think this name has come up before, but I saw mention on a BBC thread that Gary O’Neill was at AP on Fri. Didn’t give this much credence at the time, but as other names have been linked with an appearance at AP last Friday, it may be possible that this was Interview Day and he was a genuine name. Something to chew over…
I'd be extremely surprised. O'Neil played over 150 games for Portsmouth, so was probably just taking in am ex club's game. Andy Whing is now 1/3 for the Barrow job, which sounds a more realistic step into the EFL for him than us.

Ian Evatt?
Are they currently in work? Or is that giving too much away?
My one nagging doubt about Grace getting the job is memories of how things worked out for Neil Smillie.

Hopefully get some news early this coming week. We can't afford to leave it too long with promotion on the line. Momentum is everything now!
So the timing of Blooms' leaving could have an impact on our transfer business? That's not very Mr Wycombe
@kipper is consistently the best informed ITK posting on here so he can probably join up the dots.

No point doing Cressex petrol station jokes as this lot are so modern they'll do all the interviews on computers
Too early for some for sarcasm I see
Yep, we're still in a period of official mourning. All jokes are off the table.

Probably only cost about £100 aswell.

Leam Richardson is now the favourite at 3/1 as Andy Whing drops to 5th place.
What a load of bollocks.
Richardson, Whing and Holden would be absolutely boring appointments, I really hope Rice goes all out for Schumacher
I don't know... Whinge looks like a right chatacter
Holden is anything but boring

Schumacher looks ideal to me but may not fit the data model we intend to follow.

I don’t think the past is much of an indicator of future decisions under the new ownership.
Maybe not 👍
I think you are probably right @Chris but we may be about to step into the unknown for the first time in about 11/12 years.
Another safer option may be to offer the head coach job to Dobbo with Vokes as his assistant head coach.
Plenty of good managers around and we're in an attractive position with funds to entice them. We've got to be aiming high.

That would be an almighty coup, but he does have experience of managing WWFC
