Hanlan’s main attribute used to be somehow coming away with the ball when ricocheting off a defender. I don’t mean that in a derogatory way as he had a real knack for it.
His best spell was on the wing when we had Anis and Vokes tying up defenders. He scored some real crackers cutting in and hitting the top corner.
As a number 9 I just don’t see it. His first touch isn’t good enough.
His best form for us was in that wide left position. Which oddly Bloomfield never seemed to play him at much - either favouring him on the right, or up front.
I don't totally dislike Hanlan, I always will him to do well, but just seems to only produce one game in 6 or 7.
I just think we have players already here much better, and even more out there that aren't here. It wouldn't bother me if he left, I think we'd be able to upgrade fairly easily. But at the same time I could see him going elsewhere and really clicking and being that 20 goal a season man.
I remember the Bristol Rovers away game a few seasons ago where he was absolutely unplayable, truly outstanding on the night. Probably the best game he has played for us. He also put us 1-0 up against Man City when they were good.
Derby are in big trouble league-wise. If we manage to go the other way, I reckon a nice bit of business could be done for Sonny Bradley at the end of the season.
Didn’t realise he’s out of contract as well. Definitely some business to be done if the owners, who clearly would have used their data to approve the loan, agree.
I still don't really see how Sonny Bradley fits into the strategy we're developing (and the signing of the Danish defender seems to confirm) that we want to play the ball out of the back using central defenders who have pace and guile. I guess when you put in performances as good as Sonny's have been, you tweak the strategy. But his signing doesn't exactly fit with the data model that other players have. It makes me think it was a specific Bloomfield request rather than one unearthed by the quant guys.
I know what you mean but whilst we’re still in League One there’s always a place for a good old-fashioned centre half who can head the ball further than some players can kick it. I think he’s been very sensible in possession for us, moving the ball on swiftly to teammates who are perhaps more comfortable in picking out a pass.
To be fair our data-appointed Danish defenders first contribution (after initially air-kicking the ball) was to lump it forward as far as he could into the empty space behind where a right back would be.
Absolutely the right thing to do with a minute or so of injury time left and pleasingly satisfying to see.
Yes, I noticed that as well and thank goodness it did. Would have gone down in the record books if his first (attempted) touch as a Wycombe player had led to an opposition goal!
I think we conceded after about 10 seconds of his debut appearance. I might be being a bit unfair because I don’t remember him being directly at fault for the goal.

Would be good to get another right back in this window as that position appears to be a bit of a weakness.
