I agree with the basis of that comment but what I was meaning was that we are not desperate for the money and to make us sell now would probably need a £1m+ bid to tempt us.
If we keep him here then we may get promoted and then he may sign back on, who knows.
I read somewhere that a tribunal would be likely to award at least the same or similar amount as any offer that was made for him in the last 6 months leading up to the tribunal. Can’t remember where I read it though, think was on some Swansea newspaper site…
In order to get any compensation from the transfer, we have to have evidence that we offered Joe an extension / new contract and that he turned it down in favour for his future club. If we have told the player that they are being released / not offered a deal (normally happens at the end of the season) then we wouldn't get anything (just like the Premier League teams at the end of the season).
Well in that case we may as well put a contract extension on the table now then. If Joe accepts the contract then that would be superb but should he reject it, which I suspect he would at the moment, then we would be covered as per @Otter87 explanation.
Perhaps there is some parallel universe in which we don’t intend to offer him a new deal, but I suspect that in this universe he has already been offered one.
Agreed. This isn't the hardy volunteers running the club days, this is ruthless business people who will know exactly what to do to protect their asset.
And it sounds great news that we can get a fee offered but delay it 6months!

Kone?
The dream is going up and he's happy to sign on again.
But at least if he did leave we'd have a fee. Not quite sure how those are set, assume there is some tribunal system still?
because he's out of contract in the summer?
Only 5 months left on his contract that's why.
If he had 18months then the offers would be 7 figures.
We do get something for him when he leaves in the summer owing to his age, evidently - anyone know how that works or how much it would be?

Ah cheers for the explanation, both of you!

I would certainly hope so.
Elon Musk thinks we're living in a simulation so who knows.
This must be a record season for rumours.
I’ve no idea if any thread on the Gasroom has ever reached half a million views within a single season before but this one is getting close.

However, the thread was started in 2023 I believe @micra by our friend @Otter87 .
Aaah, hadn’t realised that. Hope when the time comes @Otter87 claims the credit. None of my threads exceed a season.
