Agree with this. I've never really understood the abuse McClean gets. Is it really about not wearing a poppy? Cracking player, always been impressed with him when he plays us. Would be more than happy to see him in the quarters.
We only ever saw him and Dobbo operating with no money and they found a certain style to find success in that situation. With money it would be a completely different story.
Can’t see it happening as I feel we are looking to move onto a different structure etc. However, it could be a low risk option to bring Gaz and Dobbo back and as stated above, with money they would be totally different.
To be honest why not? It doesn’t stop a player moving on if appropriate compensation (transfer fee) is paid. If they are injured at work there will be insurance to cover that (albeit pretty expensive at that level I’m sure).
What there does need to be however is a performance management part that will allow a player’s contract to be terminated (subject to opportunities to improve) if they do not perform their job to expectations.
I have occasionally wondered why this doesn’t exist as a sensible contract would protect both the player (they get career security as long as they continue to do their job well) and the club (they will not have the potential destabilising effect of an over-performing player running down their contract for a ‘free’ move.
It's all a bit sad, grown men screaming, and shouting and threatening all kinds for things said years ago , he has never really helped himself though, he was effing and blinding back at a few of them, which I guess we'd mostly say he's entitled to do but it just flared it all up and the end result was probably over a hundred of their fans trying to get at him at a throw in.
GA doing the business once again and Shrewsbury is a perfect fit. Nearly 9000 there on a Thursday night for a Sky game is brilliant attendance as well.
Let’s hope that our new Head coach/manager/football officer has that type of charisma and enthusiasm to match the new ambition.
You'll love having GA and Dobson at Shrewsbury. 2 fantastic and very different individuals who compliment each other brilliantly. Loved watching your win against Wrexham last night. The roar from the crown when the final whistle went was quite something. They way they've got your team fighting for each other already is a really promising sign.
It won't always be pretty, but as he builds and adds more quality, they'll tweak and develop the playing style accordingly. We were always labelled as long ball, which for several years with Bayo up front we were. By the end though, we had some real high quality players and were playing some fantastic football. Despite this, we still got very little credit from opposition managers and supporters. They're whining is something you'll have to get used to and learn to relish! "You know what to expect with Shrewsbury" will be a mantra you'll hear a lot from managers who despite knowing what to expect seemingly have no idea as to how to stop you!
Brechin City v Hearts, Scottish FA Cup 4th Round, 7:45pm.
BBC Scotland, iPlayer, BBC Sport.
Fifth tier City, or the Hedgemen, head the Highland League with only one defeat. Hearts are second from bottom in the Premiership. Glebe Park has a grass pitch and is best known for the tall, neatly trimmed hedge on two sides of the ground, part of the boundary perimeter. See the eight minute film "The Glebe", about the ground.
The 130 charges being investigated will give us some sort of insight into their affairs. I dare say we'll never get to the bottom of how much extra there was going on beyond that.
But when you have a City rivalling the long term historic global powers for stuff like merch and sponsorship you really have to laugh at them claiming it with a straight face.
Or them basically claiming "We can't wait to have our day in court" when they have basically been filing frivolous legal blocks to try and stop it happening for years.
How good could it feel to have our management team (or at least one of them) out there on the pitch celebrating when we secure promotion, or win the FA Cup. Sadly though I doubt any of them will even be at that game.

Agreed Andy
Birmingham are in a league of one

Erling Haaland has signed a 9 1/2 year extension to his Man City contract 🤮🤮
Was just about to post this! Makes Chelsea's contracts look like short term deals
I wonder how many of those NINE AND A HALF YEARS!!! will be spent in the EFL? Should find out soon!
The next ‘first of its kind’ will be a lifetime contract which will cover a players entire career.

How and who determines if a player was "performing to expectations"? Would it be based on data or on majority decision by the Gasroom!
Great quote from him! Riighhht.
"Manchester City is a special club, full of fantastic people with amazing supporters"
Daft contract though.
Yep, need to be a few disclaimers in there, otherwise earning 900k a week down the Manchester combination division 3 might be a stretch
I really enjoyed the Shrewsbury game last night. It felt like a peak-Ainsworth performance. Not the best football but a hell of a lot of fun to watch.
George Lloyd put a massive shift in up front and reminded me a lot of Alex Samuel

Brilliant night for Shrewsbury. One in the eye for people who tell us they never cared for Gareth’s ‘style.’
All the politics and stuff aside, he does have a really hateful aggressive demeanour on the pitch. That definitely fuels the flames.
However, for the first time watching last night, like i'd said elsewhere, I actually warmed to the way he handled the potentially volatile situation.
And that massive steward having to form a human shield just to let him take a throw in was horrible.
I'm sure the next time he's smashing someone and screaming abuse at anyone in earshot, I'll revert to my usual thoughts on him though!
Salop fan in peace.
We've had some decent manager's in the past like Cotterill etc.
However, Gareth has really taken our love already.

Look after him, he's a gem.
It's perhaps the highest compliment I can pay to Shrewsbury to say that GA and Dobbo look like a perfect fit with the club.

I think the words "full of" don't ever apply to the Emptyhad.

That just means they think (probably correctly) that their lawyers are better than the ones the league can afford.
I believe the Trevormonitor would be dusted off and used
Proposed merger of Bedford Town and Real Bedford.

I didn't see that coming, two ambitious clubs.
Interesting!
