Agree with this. I've never really understood the abuse McClean gets. Is it really about not wearing a poppy? Cracking player, always been impressed with him when he plays us. Would be more than happy to see him in the quarters.
We only ever saw him and Dobbo operating with no money and they found a certain style to find success in that situation. With money it would be a completely different story.
Can’t see it happening as I feel we are looking to move onto a different structure etc. However, it could be a low risk option to bring Gaz and Dobbo back and as stated above, with money they would be totally different.
To be honest why not? It doesn’t stop a player moving on if appropriate compensation (transfer fee) is paid. If they are injured at work there will be insurance to cover that (albeit pretty expensive at that level I’m sure).
What there does need to be however is a performance management part that will allow a player’s contract to be terminated (subject to opportunities to improve) if they do not perform their job to expectations.
I have occasionally wondered why this doesn’t exist as a sensible contract would protect both the player (they get career security as long as they continue to do their job well) and the club (they will not have the potential destabilising effect of an over-performing player running down their contract for a ‘free’ move.
It's all a bit sad, grown men screaming, and shouting and threatening all kinds for things said years ago , he has never really helped himself though, he was effing and blinding back at a few of them, which I guess we'd mostly say he's entitled to do but it just flared it all up and the end result was probably over a hundred of their fans trying to get at him at a throw in.
GA doing the business once again and Shrewsbury is a perfect fit. Nearly 9000 there on a Thursday night for a Sky game is brilliant attendance as well.
Let’s hope that our new Head coach/manager/football officer has that type of charisma and enthusiasm to match the new ambition.

Agreed Andy
Birmingham are in a league of one

Erling Haaland has signed a 9 1/2 year extension to his Man City contract 🤮🤮
Was just about to post this! Makes Chelsea's contracts look like short term deals
I wonder how many of those NINE AND A HALF YEARS!!! will be spent in the EFL? Should find out soon!
The next ‘first of its kind’ will be a lifetime contract which will cover a players entire career.

How and who determines if a player was "performing to expectations"? Would it be based on data or on majority decision by the Gasroom!
Great quote from him! Riighhht.
"Manchester City is a special club, full of fantastic people with amazing supporters"
Daft contract though.
Yep, need to be a few disclaimers in there, otherwise earning 900k a week down the Manchester combination division 3 might be a stretch
I really enjoyed the Shrewsbury game last night. It felt like a peak-Ainsworth performance. Not the best football but a hell of a lot of fun to watch.
George Lloyd put a massive shift in up front and reminded me a lot of Alex Samuel

Brilliant night for Shrewsbury. One in the eye for people who tell us they never cared for Gareth’s ‘style.’
All the politics and stuff aside, he does have a really hateful aggressive demeanour on the pitch. That definitely fuels the flames.
However, for the first time watching last night, like i'd said elsewhere, I actually warmed to the way he handled the potentially volatile situation.
And that massive steward having to form a human shield just to let him take a throw in was horrible.
I'm sure the next time he's smashing someone and screaming abuse at anyone in earshot, I'll revert to my usual thoughts on him though!
