I agree @Alexo that's why I am clinging to the hope that getting us promoted would be the beginning of his stellar career rather than almost getting us up and just helping Luton survive before getting the tin tack for stubbornly playing three at the back.
O Neill would be outrageous romanticism, bur something that would have a huge risk of tainting the original memories wouldn't it. Best taking a well deserved retirement.
It is worrying that he's seemingly jumped so early, when GA was much more tied to the club. For a bonafide club legend to be so happy to leave at such a high point, with the opportunity to smash club records and eclipse all previous managerial achievements, has to make you wonder.
I don't think it's complicated. It seems that he's not the new hierarchy's guy, so it makes total sense if he goes. Got to remember that they don't have the emotional stake in this that fans do.
I think you're wilfully glossing over the fact that this is a man who's been at the club (barring a 6 month loan to Colchester) for 20+ years. He absolutely does have a huge emotional stake in the club. For him to even consider leaving right now, when the club is not far off an all time high with him at the helm, surely suggests that something is wrong.
If Rice et al are gutting the culture of the club that Gorman-Blooms instilled similar to what happened in the 90s after O'Neill it could well be.
We don't know what happens behind closed doors.
Remember, fergie pushed back for years on having a technical director. If rice is basically forcing that model on Blooms and saying " its my way or the highway" I could see Matty's reasoning for leaving.

Marcelo Bielsa, your time has come.....
How about Alan Smith, I'm sure there's still life in the old dog!

With Keith Scott and Steve Guppy as assistants, ensuring 20 years succession into the future.
Hopes and prayers and gut feet.
Now we're talking...
I don't know.... having Matty just feels like the last thing we have as "Little Wycombe "
He is of course Mr Wycombe!
And it would be such a shame to lose him now after masterminding a promotion push to The Championship.
Need Darren Currie back for hilarious 'Currie and Rice' bants

There's only one person left then..
Tony Adams return!

And Gaz at least had seen a promotion through before, didn't have these new resources and everyone knew from the start who his dream clubs were.
Russell Martin.
If the worst happens and Blooms leaves then surely we turn to Sir Gareth....Southgate
But the big boy Blooms does. That's the point.
Right..... we all need to STOP ✋️
Doing our blood pressures no good at all!
Let's wait until something or nothing is announced. We can't change anything stressing and speculating.
Please god no
As I've said, not to the extent that it overrides his grander coaching ambitions. It's a job first and foremost.
That'd be intriguing. Everyone loves an old boy.
But how long before the gasroom combusts that we play 87 passes across our own 18 yard box in a 0-0 home draw

Didn't take training today

It's a job he surely wants to hold beyond 6months time if it goes badly at Lu-on and they go down.

To be fair to Russell, he did quite well in the Championship.
Be some journey in 8 months from a scout at Everton to interim chairman and then interim manager!
Can Wayne Rooney spell data?
I didn't say this at all did I?
I said nothing about the data led approach.... I'm happy with a data led approach.... I'd just like to keep Bloomfield as our manager.
Rice doing every job in the joint with AI tech
Signing some giants surely means Gaz is coming home.
You heard it here first.
