Tenuously football, reading up on our new signing I stumbled across the fact that Anders Limpar was once tricked into believing he had time travelled into the future.
A little better tonight and had a rare treat of sitting in one of the lounges. Had a message before the schoolrun that Dyche was gone and Baines was in charge. Made up he's got a chance, he played for my dad's team with me as a kid and we were close growing up in senior school.
Quality on the pitch and sound lad off it. Apparently it's Moyes on a 18 month contract which I'm happy with. Would like him to maybe promote Baines to assistant or have him in and around the first team, have heard Charlie Adam as assistant which isn't very inspiring if I'm honest.
Be watching our game on the tele tomorrow and hoping we're in the draw together Sunday.
TBH, I am really hoping we beat Pompey tonight and then get drawn against Everton away in the next round. My brother-in-law and his son are season ticket holders there so it would be a great opportunity to go there before the the new ground opens up, plus there is a decent chance to meet up with @ryan_w_kirkby2 and perhaps @manchesterchairboy too? Always good to meet the extended Chairboys family.
That’s brilliant. I don’t think Limpar should be considered a laughing stock. One of my favourite reality series was the one where they managed to convince these people that they were flying in space, having undergone a sequence of training exercises, etc, when in fact they never even left the ground.
@Kim_il_Swan has correctly identified the weak point in the spoof, though…. If it was me, I’m sure all the plane shaking, scientists on board, and stuff would have been convincing, but then if they’d said Scotland won the World Cup, it would have been like ‘nice try, lads… you’ll be telling me Leicester won the Premier League and Wycombe got into the Championship next…’
Not sure what people make of the argument as to whether Darren Ferguson should have brought Tyler Young on last night but I think Fergie is spot on here. Apparently one of the Everton players had a pop at him for not bringing him on?
As it was one nil and they were still in the game, he's right to make the most attacking sub he had.
Imagine just bringing a sub on to make a nice story with a tight game!
Though you can say Gaz said he'd bring Bayo on whatever the situation v Sunderland for his last pro game.
Imagine if we were down to 10, holding onto 1 nil lead on 80. Would you bring Bayo who for all his strengths wasn't mobile, just when you know you'll be needing everyone to work super hard?
Barely is being generous. He's played 27 minutes in the EFL trophy. The fact he was on the bench was remarkable really - he's been on the bench for three first team games all year outside the EFL trophy! The outrage is stupid
This was an unfortunate ballot for Altrincham. Altrincham were sure of the votes of Grimsby and Luton but the Grimsby representative 'forgot' to vote and the Luton rep arrived from 'lunch' after the vote had taken place.
My kids' school just emailed everyone a family ticket (2 adults, 2 kids) to go watch Bedford Town against Telford tomorrow. Wonder if the dogs count as kids.

If Everton started playing music that was less than 70 years old they might improve or something
We're getting Everton in the 4th round. It is meant to be for @ryan_w_kirkby2.
I noticed that and thought he was playing in long white trousers, 🤣

They told us Norway had won the World Cup in 1998.
🤣

Fuss about nothing. It’s a competitive game and they had a chance to get a result.
Young had barely played for Peterborough. It was a nice narrative, but a bit of context wouldn't they've gone amiss - he was highly unlikely to play.

Doing some research for an article and came across this: a comprehensive history of Football League election. Quite interesting to see which clubs have almost been in the FL.
Altrincham missed out by two votes in 1980:

Oops...
I don't blame the Luton rep - we have established that there is a ring of broken glass around that town.
