  • What lead you there?

There is a good pub just round the corner if you fancy a sharpener.

  • when I went there I found the labelling of exhibits unclear.

2b or not 2b, that was the question.

  • I sympathise with you over the mutilation of English but I'm not into policing other people's language: unless they're judging others. So watch out. 😉

  • Thumbs up to that. Goodwill to all men and all that. But not forgetting the women either of course.. It’s disappointing that there appear to be so few of them posting on here but they’re probably clandestinely keeping an eye on us.

  • I referred elsewhere to Tyreece Campbell’s early strike for Charlton yesterday.

The following paragraph is taken from his Wikipedia entry. It tickled me. It also included an example of the correct use of whom.

  • Reading Evatt’s summary of Bolton’s defeat to Barnsley, he made reference to the fact that they have a number of players coming back from injury and Aaron Morley to strengthen the team. I sincerely hope he is just spouting as usual.

  • If Morley goes back his confidence will get ground down by that manager.

  • Morley is Bolton's player. If the intention was to loan him out to get minutes to get him firing for their first team, then they've done that successfully. Bolton sent out a player worth nothing to them, and now have a £500k player on their books. Fantastic for them if you ask me.

Put the shoe on the other foot, if Jack Young, for example, started ripping up trees on loan - we would have him back in our team!

  • Despite it potentially being one of Morley’s last games, look at his reaction to our third goal. Totally committed to our cause. Total class.

  • I certainly hope Morley does sign up, but if tomorrow does end up being his last game in a Wycombe shirt he deserves an almighty send off. What a player.

  • If Bolton can make the playoffs it is surely better for their chances that he continues to play for us - it is now unlikely that Bolton will overtake us in the table. They will want us to take points off sides that they can overtake.

He is probably not a £500,000 asset to Bolton themselves, it seems to me that there would be a lot of hard work integrating him into the Bolton team we saw before Christmas. "Firing for the first team" there does not look like an easy matter.

It is possible that Bolton will take him back, with the view to selling him, possibly to us, possibly to another club, in the window. If they did this he might well be losing value to other clubs all the time he was in the shop window and what a shit way to treat one of your players.

If they sell him to us, then he can hurt Bolton's chances in the return fixture and very well might want to do a Scott Kashket against Orient. However if they continued the loan and we are promoted, they could have a £1m player on their books with two years left on the contract. That looks to me like a Win - Win - Win for both clubs and the player.

Can't see it happening because Evatt appears to be a plonker.

I am prepared to give him the most tremendous acclaim on Sunday.

  • I was always told you shouldn’t begin a sentence with ‘but’ @micra 😂

  • But unfortunately you’ve been misinformed.

  • And I was told you shouldn’t start one with an ‘and’.

  • Deckchair starting a sentence with deckchair.

    A real schoolboy error.

Reminds me of a teacher giving a bizarre example of using the word "and" FIVE times in a row.

Some weird one involving a pub called Fox and Gun, and the gaps between each word.

The "fox" and "and" and "and" and "gun" etc etc.

So bizarre I still remember it 30 years on.

  • There's literally nothing wrong with starting a sentence with a conjunction. And sometimes it's even the better option, to add emphasis.

  • But on the other ‘and there’s lots of ifs and buts.

  • Starting with And puts greater emphasis on it, I think, in the sense of “And ‘errs another thing”.

  • Half time over.

  • I see your post makes sense as a erm rebuttal, but starting a sentence with a but, whilst breaking no rules doesn't look great does it?

  • Also it'd rule out the all time classic sentence of, "And ting".

  • It's one of those things that's not wrong but also isn't advised, as such.

  • Punctuation 'trends' bug me far more. The amount of authors who don't bother with speech marks now...

  • Number!!!!!
