  • For all the jokes about losing everyone, I think that is a disadvantage over bigger clubs in our division - in other words, if we don't go up, there will definitely be clubs in for some of our talent, whereas if we were a bigger club, we have a better chance of them staying. So even though it's not like completely reinventing the wheel every season, it creates a competitive disadvantage every summer. Even just losing Kone and Low in the summer would make next season feel very different.

In summary: let's go up now and not talk about "not being ready"!

  • Hopefully if we do lose them if it's in the tier above, where fees will automatically be much higher.

  • The erm... scenes if Aaron Morley is paraded in front of the Valley End on New Year's Day 🤣

  • Suddenly realised this thread had nearly 200 new posts in a couple of days, close to Christmas and with no football having been played.

I was certain the thread had either been sidetracked with Christmas greetings or was full of cheese related puns argued over by @DevC and @bargepole.

But no, there's been a serious debate over whether Aaron Morley will be playing for Wycombe in January and beyond.

    What's wrong with people?

(The answer to the question is clearly "Yes!").

  • Perhaps the wrong example to give using Birmingham. Anyone else but Birmingham haha.

  • The answer to "What's wrong with people?" is "Yes!"?

    Actually yeah, kinda works.

Yes it’s disturbing to us as well micra but sadly the debt that Football Ventures acquired when buying us still has to be paid back so it’s predominantly interest payments on top of wages and stadium running costs. Thank goodness we have the attached hotel which makes money and creditors who are fans and keep extending the closure dates. Running any football club is expensive but that’s more so in the Championship with the higher wage bill. If you can make the promised land of the PL you can probably clear all your debts but as we found out last time it’s expensive even just to stay there. For now though it’s about getting out of L1 for both of us and I’m sure sitting where you are now your board will not want to blow their chances of doing that by letting a player integral to your chances leave. I don’t think any fee or wages will be unrealistic so I can’t see AM not ending up with you.

  • I suspect we would have to double if not triple our highest transfer fee to get Morley in on Jan 1st.

That to me is never going to happen.

  • To be fair that must have been 25+ years ago

  • Most of that is due to legacy overheads that they have during their PL period.

    Loss of TV revenue hurts.

  • We're Wycombe Wanderers

    We'll sign who we want

Not a chant to endear us to opposition fans, but it's coming.
