How are Reading FC managing to pay the players wages and keep that training ground and academy going? Has the Chinese owner suddenly found a load of cash behind the settee?
I suspect they trousered a huge sum when Olise was sold to Bayern Munich. Rumours are £4-6M and that would keep them going for a large part of the season.
Partly the Olise sell on fee, now plus the compensation for Selles move to Hull, soon to be added to by selling at least three (my guess) players in January, no doubt to Hull City, despite a clause forbidding them from taking any players from us until the summer 2025. If that is the only option to get money into the club, that clause will be forgotten.
Almost makes you feel sorry for the EFL, they can't throw him out, can't kick Reading out of the league without a huge backlash, and he has enough money to keep just the right side of anything with actual consequences, can't seemingly encourage him to be less twatty. Merry go round .
Rob threatening them and using up loads of his own money doesn't seem to be helping anyone.
Knibbs and/or Wing (other half agreeing) to Hull. Bindon and Garcia I think could go to Premier League clubs, to either be in their reserves or go out on loan. if they were loaned back to us, it would help us out. But as far as I know having not published our accounts we are still under an embargo and not able to sign loan or free agent players, that might prove difficult.
Despite all the surrounding noise and disruption, Selles had put together a real decent team. The last couple of results appear to be a reaction to Selles leaving. Reading are also far enough up the league to survive should they have to sell all those players in Jan.
i really hope they survive in some form or another if just for the sake of the loyal fans and @theRoyalBiscuit whom has kept us informed and a decent poster on here. I really fear for the future though with that owner, I really don't get it though. What does he hope to gain by dragging this on and on? Surely he is devaluing the asset even further down the tubes?
Yongge is seemingly in quite some financial difficulty back in China, clinging onto assets in the West at all costs might in some way make sense for him. There might be an element of him holding on in case Reading improbably get promoted, though
It's difficult to see a way out that doesn't involve administration, I personally see that as being the only way of being rid of Yongge unless someone pays a long way over the odds for Reading FC.
If Elon Musk believes that Cheltenham Town is worth investing in, then Reading FC with its training ground, academy and excellent stadium and location, must be worth a shot.
Then we will be returning to the same mess with points deductions, embargos etc. So no thanks, I would rather stay in L! rather than go through all that again.
Just using him as an example as someone willing to invest in an EFL club who have way less potential than Reading. I really wouldn’t wish that fool on your club @theRoyalBiscuit
As it's not our club we have the luxury of looking on from afar with interest but we also have the example of Derby, and tbh we are also spending more than a club of our side should and hoping that him in charge stays interested and his investment plans are solid.
Who knows what the league will look like in 5-10 years. Most people who have been going for years want something that looks like stability but I'm not at all sure that is where any of this is heading.
Line two should read ONE AND ALL also, New year. Sad thing is I can't blame it on drink, I haven't had an alcoholic one for at least 50 years. Must be my age is catching up on me.

Ah yes, the Mark 1 Cortina, a medium-sized family car at a reasonable price of under £1,000 brand new.
Concours examples now change hands for £20,000+.

Perhaps a small part of the season more likely given their losses...
For the sake of Reading FC, their fans & the rest of L1 this really needs settling asap

That's what we have saying for well over a year now and some of us a lot longer. Asap appears to be like tomorrow-- it never comes!😒
Tomorrow? Never! (Dai)
I think I win worst Bond pun with that one.
The compensation figure for Selles would be fairly insignificant compared to the Olise sell on fee.
Who do you think will get sold, I'd guess at Bindon, Garcia and one of Knibbs/Wing

Don't see why someone would pay over the odds for Reading FC?
As soon as the loon in chief is gone there's a well trodden path of begging to the authorities, stiffing creditors and finding new mugs to invest.
They are in real trouble right now but as soon as that is sorted out, if it can be, They'll be outspending us in weeks.

KEEP THAT CLOWN OUT OF OUR CLUB. If he were to take us over I may eresort to writing on bedsheets!
MERRY CHRISTMAS ON AND ALL. Wishing you every success in the new new, even if it means your are one (or two) tiers above us.

I do think we are heading towards all four divisions being filled with rich owners.
I would say at least 5 divisions.
