If this is indeed true you have to think that is some internal fall out vis recruitment &/or management differences . The PNL’s position in the pyramid, as witnessed by their nickname, means they are punching way above their weight to be holding their own in The Championship. Seems their owners are as deluded as their fans if they think different.
I do wonder if Gaz is wishing he had held out for this unforeseen opportunity as he sits re-watching yesterday’s capitulation.
Absolutely mad. I live in Oxford and talk about OUFC every day to many of their fans. No-one even considered him leaving. They're in bad form, but that happens when you go up a division (which was a great achievement in itself). They're above the relegation zone, which is what they'd have been hoping for at the start of the season
Oxford need to guarantee Championship football to help with their new stadium that won't ever get built as they haven't got any money. Would love to see them spiral downwards.
Oxford fans I know are shell-shocked, didn't see it coming at all even with their current form. It's only a year or so since Oxford paid £800k compensation to bring him to the club.
I just wanted to create a discussion mostly about Oxford sacking their boss - I was poking fun at Bloomfield being favourite for every championship job.
I think it’s totally mental that the longest serving manager in the Championship is Paul Warne - just over two years in charge of Derby County. Utterly absurd.
Certainly there are more than 2 places the homeless ones could go - I guess stadium mk is always a possibility and then if the triangle thing falls through they could stay there and be the plucky non league oxford dons.
Spot on! The whole "there's no loyalty in football" thing when a manager leaves for a better position raises my hackles at the best of times, but they went beyond that and kept referring him to a snake (which ended after his terrible tragedy, thankfully).
To the credit of Oxford fans, at least they themselves did not want him (Buckingham) gone, but hopefully this is a lesson to them in how the real world works, and how a manager like Manning will take an opportunity because there are never any guarantees.
The Mirror are reporting that Millwall want to "talk to" Steven Schumacher and Blooms for their job, though. I'd like to think both Blooms and the club would refuse any discussions.
I don't think he'd go anyway, but I did find this discussion between a Millwall podcaster and Sam Parkin interesting, as far as what Blooms brings to the table. It is nice to hear an outside perspective like that. If the link does not take you to the right point, it starts at 57:44.
On a side not, it is interesting to see how many opposition fans think Blooms has just had a good streak, rather than a year of promotion form and 100 goals.
Had a look at their forum and it looked like they might not even get a decision on the new stadium until summer 2025. Anyone else know any more details?
The lease at the Kassam runs out in 2026, so they need a new ground for 2026/27, so pretty uncertain times ahead.

No, he wouldn’t.
Haha, you're going to annoy a few by starting another thread ! ( I did chuckle btw)
Is that a harsh sacking?
Oxford just about staying up would be a brilliant result and they're just about on par for that.
Loool
Yeah I think I agree, if he could've kept them up that would've been a good job done. Ahh well... never mind eh !

💀
It is harsh as I’m a firm believer managers need time.
Oxford’s points total is bumped up by their first few games though, they’ve been in freefall recently.
Can we agree that we don’t need a ‘Bloomfield favourite for xxx job’ thread every time a manager gets sacked?
As it stands he’s going to be favourite for every job going

Why on earth would he? There's quite a good possibility we'll be playing in a higher league than them next year.

Penny for the thoughts of the PNL fans who were calling Liam Manning disloyal and Judas a year ago.
My comment was firmly tongue in cheek @frequentstander.
Add in they will be well and truly homeless in 18 months and it’s not a job many would want.
I am sure we would have ended up as there landlords if Rob had been here but I can’t see ML giving it a second thought.
They could be the next Brighton couch surfing between Northampton and Cheltenham. No way the police would allow a share at Swindon or Reading.
I wonder if there's 3 sides to this story?
Brilliant 👍

One of those open ended tales?

It does make you wonder whether this would have turned out any differently had his surname been 'Oxfordshire'.

I'd like to see our owners get ahead of this (expected) interest in Bloomfield with a big, juicy new contract to kickstart 2025.
With a one time "lifetime achievement award" bonus to set him up for life.
Pox aren't actually going to end up homeless are they? Some humble pie and crippling rent to the guy who owns the stadium has to be most likely.

If you want to add another one to the ‘Bloomfield favourite for xxx’ Bristol Rovers are said to be sacking Taylor.
