Despite our embarrassment of riches up top (yes, I see the pun), it’s the midfield of Scowen, Morley & Humphries that have been the key to our success so far.
If we have money to spend it should go on signing Morley before anything else.
Humphreys only has 18 months left on his contract and I very much doubt he would get a look in at Ipswich this or next season in the Championship. The current Ipswich central midfield is:
Sam Morsy
Kalvin Phillips (On loan from Man City)
Conor Chaplin
Omari Hutchinson
Jack Taylor
Jens Cajuste (On loan from Napoli)
The above six have played in a central defensive or attacking midfield role in the last three games, plus Massimo Luongo who is either injured or not starting/on bench.
I'd love to think we might have half a chance, especially as he will have known Matt for at least six years when Matt was coaching Ipswich youth teams before he stopped playing.
We might keep Humphreys for another 6-12 months on loan if we go up, but that's our only chance. That goal he scored against Exeter shows what a high ceiling he has - he's absolute class.
With Humphreys, a lot depends on where Ipswich are next season. And Wycombe as well. We get promoted and Ipswich stay up then they would hopefully re loan him to us for a season of Championship football. If Ipswich get relegated then I guess he will stay with them.
The reality is that after the first two games where our defence (without Taylor yet) was all at sea, we have conceded 15 goals from 16 games. I would take that ratio all day long!

Agree with this. In my time of supporting Wycombe, I've never seen a substitution that changed the direction of the game as much as that one did.
And then came Kone vs Peterborough.
I've never ever met a man or woman who has driven into Morley town centre and immediately left without having to stop and ask directions.

Humphreys
If you have to make a choice of buying one it would be Humphreys for me, though being greedy I’d like both here permanently
Yet Morley appears to be the only possible permanent signing out of our three regular loanees.

Humphreys would cost millions!!!
He'll be in the premier league before too long. Let's just enjoy watching him while we can. We've got no chance of signing him

That pass he made from the edge of the box for Kone to score our first against Lincoln is unbelievable.
Not sure about millions - you’ve dropped the word millions into a couple of posts recently - but otherwise I totally agree.
To clarify, @eric_plant, you described one player (forget who) as a million times better than someone else. Again, I’ve forgotten who!!
Some clarification, that.
I think the thumbs down were because folk thought I was prioritising the signing of Humphreys over the signing of Morley. I wasn’t.
I still think all the loanees will stay...based on absolutely nothing.
Time for supper.
Don't you mean dinner? Unless you're going to bed early.
Let’s hope you’re right because they have collectively had a massive impact on where we are in the league.
How many times. It is dinner if you are dining out. It’s supper at home. This is leafy Bucks not Slough.
Totally agree 👍
Just wanted to display my solidarity with northern folk who, on the whole, tend to be more friendly than us southerners.
My early night would be any time before midnight.
All the cool kids are doing OMAD
Thanks @eric_plant. Gracious.
But if they do go...the people who got them in will probably have a plan to replace them.
I've no idea what you are talking about
Humphreys would cost millions, by the way
Isn’t he ,head of recruitment at Oxford😂
@micra is going to take him out for some supper to seal the deal.
