Shrewsbury going down?
After a great win against Birmingham, Ainsworth has lost the next two. Shrewsbury now sit 8 points from safety. In his post match interview , he talked about needing replacements in the January transfer window. I wonder if McCarthy, Wheeler and even Taff will come into his thinking who are not getting many minutes with us.

I watched the Blackpool Shrewsbury game the other day…to say that both teams were dire is an understatement. Arron Pierre was shockingly bad…he looked unfit and overweight. Ainsworth won’t work a miracle with the current players he has and I can’t see any other outcome other than a drop to league 2 where he can rebuild.
I wonder why he took the job. I’d argue he was better off in League 2 with a bigger budget. Shrews have been in managed decline for years now - and this season is their worst crop of players yet.
Slightly nearer his house than Man Utd? Maybe liked the badge a bit more than Real Madrids?
He took the job that was on offer. One win against a big team doesn't fix attitudes or make players better. It'll take time and money. They may listen to him more than they did at QPR but they are probably also a fair bit worse as players. Could be a long few weeks before January.
They still seem to be on the verge of a takeover. Maybe that will give Gaz and Dobbo a chance to get some players in and make a fist of it.
It’s safe to say characters like Wheeler and JMac would help the dressing room. He also alluded to some of his old connections joining him previously. He certainly needs some magic (after the 14th).
I hope that Haka bloke isn’t fully booked pre Christmas. Gaz needs him up at the training ground before panto season kicks in.
As long as they lose next week and when we play them at home, apart from that I hope he wins every game.
When Gaz left I thought we'd finally be free of @davecz's gasroom digs at him. I should have known better.
I would hope, and expect, Gareth was given assurances he'd have time to rebuild beyond this season, whatever the outcome. It'll take something miraculous to keep the Shrews up now, even with a decent transfer window.
If we keep Bishop, i could see Rav or George going there on loan.
How can anyone make a rational prediction of the scoreline next Saturday against a side who beat Birmingham and lost heavily to Cambridge United? Wrong thread, I know, but I’ve to get it right (or nearly right) to keep the pressure on the Wycombe of the Samaritans League, @DevC !!
If he'd lost the first 2 and won the 3rd game would people be making these threads?
No, but have you seen the highlights from yesterday? They look fairly doomed at the moment.
I must look at the highlights, if any. Or I would if I knew where I could find them.
Well in honesty, the vast majority of managerial jobs are not going to come up in positive circumstances, unless the current incumbent retires or is choosing to take a break a la Klopp.
GA needed to get back in the game if he didn’t want to be frozen out, and I feel like this job is a free hit. From what I’ve read on their forum, their fans feel the same way - their squad is just not strong enough for this level and if they go down it won’t be seen as GA’s fault, but if he keeps them up, he’s a hero.
So if he’s going to get the time and space to rebuild the squad in his own image regardless of which league they end up in next season, I would think that that’s a decent job for him to take.
I can see Max coming back to England
Am I alone in thinking that Nathan Bishop is very much an unknown quantity? It would obviously be unfair to suggest that he was any more at fault than the defenders in front of him for conceding six goals in the two games that he played but, for most of us, that’s the extent of the evidence and I find it hard to escape the feeling that he is not destined to become a Wycombe hero.
How was that a dig? I suggest you read the post again. It was stating facts and surmising if he would come back for our players.
Just Google it:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipYmUs5jFws
I just hope Shrewsbury see the bigger picture. Some managers can get better results with the same group of players as other managers, but no-one is capable of waving a magic wand and making an awful squad look like world beaters.
If Shrewsbury can keep their resolve and let GA build his own squad in L2, they will end up a force to be reckoned with, especially if their new owners have a bit of money.
Imagine getting rattled by that then giving him abuse?
Their heads have gone
No way Bishop gets in the side ahead of Rav. Have you forgotten the Wigan away game?
Bishop does all day long even if Ravazolli played well at Wigan.
Ah....this was for the Mrs Wing discussion elsewhere....ignore
Don’t get upset @drcongo - we all have different views, some negative and some less so.
My word, I do seem to got under your very sensitive skin by expressing a statement of facts and asking a question if any of our players may move ( not covered on other posts). Also for your information, I’ve not been desperately waiting. Got far more important things to think about.
You of all people should know that That Ainsworth has a way of turning things around @davecz he'll get rid of those who should never pull on the shirt again and possibly play his mates and the results will then be on him.
I think he'll keep them up myself and if not rebuild in L2.
Agree . My point was , would he come back for any of our players but clearly this has upset @drcongo .
I'm not surprised this was met with a 5050 reaction, as we've simply not seen enough of Bishop to judge yet.
We didn't have the solid Low Taylor combination in front of him back then.
Ravs has to stay - amazing shot stoppers who would not come off their line to rescue a puppy is the Wycombe tradition!
