Southampton won't have appointed him purely for stylistic reasons. They must have seen something in his approach that they thought would translate to their project.
Then again, their recent managerial history has been a bit random: since Poch left, they've had Ronald Koeman, Claude Puel, Mauricio Pellegrino, Mark Hughes (I don't remember this at all), Ralph Hasenhuttl, Reverend Jones and Russell.
I completely agree - I don't like dogmatic management and, despite my regard for him, didn't think much to Martin's record prior to Southampton. But Southampton can hardly say that they didn't know what they were getting - he was very clear about his dogma.
I thought that too but comments I've read from NTFC fans make it sound like a genuine resignation - apparently he's been visibly frustrated and shattered in recent weeks and might've just had enough
Their defending last night was absolutely shocking. Discipline gone too - when your captain is getting sent off for pulling someone's hair, you're not in a good place.
Wolves defending last night was shocking too. Didn't help their goaly had a nightmare.
2 down in the 2nd half and having struggled all night with our set pieces, a ball gets crossed into the box and under no pressure what so ever the defender heads it out for a corner. The GK high fived him and not one other player moaned. Corner comes in and it's 3-0.
Surprised with the Wolves end at full time, it looked full and I can only imagine they stayed to booo them off.
1758: Though the British lose the Battle of Ticonderoga, Captain Steve Evans says that everyone could see that they dominated, and he'll never understand how they lost.
Kwame Poku is expected to miss ~3 months with a hamstring injury - good news for those who have Kone top scorer bets, and good news for anyone playing Peterborough!
But coming up to a year out of a manager's job, he needed to get back in. Shrewsbury are a solid league 1 club and there's every chance he's had some reassurances about funding to come.
He's definitely up against it though, after it all looked so easy in that first game v Birmingham!
A lot of pressure if he does take them down first. We all know how fickle fans can be. Heck, a chunk of our fans still criticise him even after his miracles here. Imagine if they're not playing well and go down how the patience will erode.
I don't watch PL, but it was worth it just to see Onana waste about 45 seconds of his team's chance to comeback at the end of injury time taking a free kick from the wrong spot repeatedly.
Nothing against United overall, but after the Bishop carpet-pull, anything goalkeeper related that goes wrong for them is high comedy.

Jon Brady has resigned at Northampton
resignations seem a rareity these days in football
The fact that the club will “work with the LMA on his exit agreement” suggests resignation is a bit of a euphemism.
He played for the reserves once didn’t he?

This rather says it all

Adam el Abd at Barnsley in 2018/19
I had a quick google to find when that had happened and I came across this from Brighton losing an FA Cup match 6-1 to Liverpool in 2012.
1758: Sam Vokes gives way for Craig Mackail-Smith for Brighton while Vicente is on for Adam El-Abd.
I read 1758 as a year and thought, I knew Vokes was getting on a bit now but he must be a vampire to still be going in 2024.
1758: Clement XIII replaces Benedict XIV for Vatican City State.

Presumably not a naval battle? The boat would have sunk in its dock.

With Barrie on the way back to Villa, it’s between The King and Alfie
Shrews getting battered, much work to do there.
I am a little mystified that GA has gone for two relegation scraps in a row for his jobs. I'd be shocked if they can reel in that 8 point gap.
QPR reasoning goes without saying.

He may not pull off a miracle but he'll get them back up from League Two was perhaps the thinking?

At least the Gasroom's second team won

Gaz has a lot of work to do.
He made up the time by not bothering to save the shot that was right at him. That's a very expensive hopeless squad they have.
Textbook Spursiness from Spurs today. Two of the most braindead challenges to give away penalties you'll ever see.
