I think we will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. We have given ourselves a lot of room for error with the blistering winning run, and in four matches in the league without Sir Josh we have won two (albeit one very fortuitously), and then drawn away against a good Exeter side where we spotted them a 2-0 lead and yet felt gutted not to win, then gifted an excellent Reading side a goal and yet still should have probably won it.
I would still guess playoffs, but the reality is that none of the other contenders are hammering other sides week in week out. Wrexham seem to win every game by a solitary goal, which is not sustainable, Huddersfield are the latest up and comers but are hardly invincible, and everyone else is noticeably inconsistent right now aside from Birmingham, who I still think will run away with the division eventually.
Playoffs should be doable, but with Sir Josh and Sads back, I don't see why we can't be battling it out for 2nd until the very end. Our bad days still have a lot of quality, and there is a lot to be said for that.
I’m trying to keep herbert alive I drop it in to as many conversations as I can it’s surprising how many berks and herberts you encounter in the wild , I wonder if there’s a society for the preservation of endangered derogatory terms .
I don't think 'idiot' necessarily refers to a person with learning disabilities.
You can see idiots everywhere you go, including in supermarkets, on the roads, and featuring as contestants in many TV quiz shows. How some of these people manage to find their way out of their front door, and hold down a paid job, is beyond me.
That seems a bit harsh on Rav, I felt it was completely Joe Lows fault irrespective of whether Low has been on fire recently. I actually thought Rav almost saved the situation, on another day his save would not have fallen straight to the opposition player.
I do wonder whether my general positiveness after the game was helped by the fact that I was i had nipped to the loo (at the point they had a goal kick) and completely missed all that happened from that point until we kicked off after their goal.
Walked out the stadium feeling it was two points dropped, but I think that was borne from frustration around the manner of the goal conceded.
Reading have shown they're a very good side for months, despite everything going on off the pitch. Selles going doesn't change that, especially when a club legend well-versed in his philosophy slots straight in. They still have great facilities and infrastructure today, even if they might not be here tomorrow.
I think fair play to both sides for producing such a good game yesterday despite the atrocious conditions. I've seen loads of games ruined by windy conditions.
was slightly amused how a player totally committed to the cause while a Wycombe player was given such a hard time. Yet another player (who looked like he couldn’t give a toss in two loan spells) was not even mentioned by the boo boy.
If I may, I would like to add my summary of the game, based on the Radio Berkshire commentary I listened to (my only "presence" at games these days)
First half, about 50/50 decent end to end game
Second half to start with we under the cosh for a while then we managed to get back into the game. Then Jobi did us a favour by not being able to score near the end. It makes a change for one of our all-time favourites (and still is among a lot of Royals fans) not to score against us.
Decent game by both sides in the horrendous conditions. When you consider that our youngsters probably haven't played in that sort of weather, I think they did extremely well.
I'm regularly shocked but not surprised at a section of our fans' willingness to abuse former players who only ever did good by us. But then given some of them even abused Stewart on his return, perhaps they're beyond hope or help.
Was it anything beyond a few boos and shouts of 'wanker'? All fairly harmless if not. The Reading fans were 'abusing' McCleary and he's a club legend - I'm sure it was all in good spirit.

I love riddles. Gissa clue..
Wing was good today wasn't he.
Rav's Marlow Distro?

Why is it not OK to use an outdated term for someone with Downs Syndrome but is OK to use an outdated term for someone with a mental age of 7-12?
Id**t is another outdated term for a person with learning disabilities.
I thought exactly the same, and credit to konetheming for holding his hands up and apologising when he realised he was in the wrong.

Having a hi-falutin’ legal brain also doesn’t stop people acting like idiots on occasion…

Bargepole. Yesterday.
@bargepole how do you identify these 'idiots' in a supermarket?
He’s a tremendous player. Hard working. Committed. Great passing. Leadership.
When he was getting abuse (I like to think panto abuse) he was very amusing placing the ball outside the line for the corner.
He would walk into any team in our league.
On a similar theme, we perhaps are all aware of the Dunning-Kruger effect where stupid people think they are smart, we seem less attuned to the opposite as this article in Psyche discusses.
As Dietrich Bonhoffer said we have more to fear from stupidity than from evil.

I genuinely don't think he walks into our team , I would.have Cam, Morley and Josh over him all day long...wing was hot and cold
Such a shame he was getting dogs abuse from the Valley end. Completed unwarranted and I’d take him back like a shot.
He would walk into any team in our league.
If his missus let him.
Language changes quite a lot in 150 years. Almost as much as it does nowadays in 20.

Credit to both sets of players

Jobi?

Well done, you spotted my deliberate mistake, . Claim your £100 when you see me on the beach. 😀😀😀
The correct answer is Garath. By the way Jobi is another ex player still held in high regard here.
Ohh, McAnuff!
It took me a while to figure it out too, as I thought @theroyalbiscuit was being critical of a Reading player. Then I figured he must mean GMac.
