Two points dropped unfortunately. Ravizolli doesn’t install any confidence in anybody. Almost every shot spilled. Low and Taylor not their best games but Morley and Humphreys are special.
Taking all things into consideration* I really enjoyed today.
For 20 minutes or so at the start of the second half, into the wind and rain, we genuinely played a level of football that was superb to watch.
We didn’t capitalise and in the end a draw was probably a fair result but as the last 20 minutes had “Wing wind-assisted 40-yard winner” written all over it I’m more than happy to take a point.
*I may change my mind on that if the weather f@&£s up the trains home too much…
The longer that game went on I too did think about a Reading fan on their forum talking about how it might as well be them to break our unbeaten spell.
Sometimes you have to just take the solid draw and move on.
We need to hit back with a win asap though.
Bristol Motors midweek gives another chance to keep the squad happy. With 3 league games over 9 days after that, and an even sillier 4 league and 1 FA cup game in 9 days, we'll certainly need to mix and match over the Christmas and New year spells.
Really entertaining game, probably we should have won it 2nd half, but credit to Reading's defence who got in some incredible blicks when we looked certain to score on several occasions. I thought we looked much better in the 2nd half today than we have for a few weeks. Whilst Scowen is a big miss, we showed today in awful conditions that we can put in a big performance without him. Hope he's back soon of course!
Agree with @glasshalfempty that save from McCleary towards the end was quite incredible.
some absolutely reading mongs sitting in Frank Adams stand, were cheering Readikd on vocally then decided to start on some elderly wycombe fan...club need to make sure this does not happen
Frustrating watch today. Feigned injuries are getting ridiculous. We were always employing them under Gaz but it seems every team in the EFL has the goalkeeper fake cramp when under the cosh. Then in transition there are constant head ‘injuries’. A whole load of stop-start. And then the ref adds on one additional minute despite there being two goals in the first half - and the ball was constantly out of play.
I would love a study into additional time in England on:
1) Tuesday nights vs Saturday 3pms
2) Rainy weather
3) Low temperatures / seasonal effect on additional time
I’m anecdotally convinced that there is much less added time on Tuesdays, in cold and in rain.
Don’t get me started on why first half added time is consistently at least three times less long than second half added time.
Perhaps I’m boring, but it does my head in. Anyone else?
Keepers get it so easy. They can waste as much time as they like and they're never going to get more than a first yellow - which ref is going to have the balls to show them a second?
Also, that 'foul' where their keeper just dropped the ball under very little pressure? Prime example of how they're over-protected. They're goalkeepers, not pandas.
I'm sure every other throw is a foul throw these days as well. I don't think it actually matters that much - you don't gain much advantage from it - but while the law exists it should be enforced...
I agree it that injury time length is rather higgledy piggledy and it would be interesting to study the factors you mention.
However on 1st v 2nd half, I think there are set times for subs and goals (which make up the majority of injury time). There are many more subs and goals in the second half hence the longer time given.
Was there five times more stoppages / instances of ball out of play in the second half today compared the first half? A 5:1 ratio? There were two goals in the first half and none in the second. A lot of feigned injuries and stoppages for subs, yes. But FIVE times more additional time? Really? Just feels very wrong.

My only disappointment from today was we didn’t have a pop from distance when we had the wind behind us, like Steve Brown at Doncaster.

Is there a wager on the number of times people would use the word 'farcicial' on here today? It's quite frankly getting...farcical!

Bore off you utter moron. That sort of terminology should be consigned to the 70s.

Reading certainly milked it today. They must have had a player on the floor on double digit occasions.
Their keeper did start getting on with the goal kicks though after getting an early 2nd half booking.

Darren Drysdale
I'm sure we did it in the closed season, a little list of stuff that gets us irate, but players stealing tonnes of yardage on throws is annoying too.
The ref let Reading get all sorts of steals in today, then started deciding to clamp down on us late on
I'm sure every other throw is a foul throw these days as well. I don't think it actually matters that much - you don't gain much advantage from it - but while the law exists it should be enforced...
It's when the ball goes out next to the corner flag, and they end up taking it nearer the half way line that gets me.
Which isn't even hard to clamp down on

As of last season, they're supposed to add the exact time for goal celebrations - it used to just be a standard amount
Thoughts
Blimey it was windy .
I made the mistake of having a hot chocolate it was nether hot or chocolate.
Walked back amongst the reading firm apparently you’re hard if you stop traffic and sing wanky Wycombe in front of the Tesco Express.

You used a horrible slur against Downs syndrome people in your first few words.
I stopped reading there to be honest. It needs immediate calling out.

I do apologise for using that term , was uncalled for and did not realise what that meant.
Fair play for that, and we move on.
So it was cold.....
...
...
poo?
It’ll be the term you chose to use, which is an antiquated, pathetic insult to accuse a person of looking like they have Down’s Syndrome.
So yes, you are a complete moron.
agreed and apologies, did not know what it meant , take it back
