Evatt does seem a thoroughly unlikeable character but he's not going to say "yeah Wycombe smashed them so they're obviously pony and we'll bash them good" is he?
Evatt seems arrogant, but of all the 'big' teams that have dropped into L1, Bolton overall seem the least arrogant. Much prefer chatting to their supporters than the likes of Sunderland, Ipswich etc.
What a player Aaron Morley is. Please don’t let him go back Dan, buy him even if we have to pay £500,000/£750,000 for him. Aaron is well worth it. Please, please, please. 👍
I was thinking today - I think we will sign Morley. He won’t want to go back - he’s playing in his favoured position for a manager who rates him and has a real chance of being a Championship player next season. As a manager, you never want to stand in the way of your people moving onwards and upwards. It sends a terrible signal to them and to the whole team.
The one time Franco played a short goal kick out to Leahy rather than Morley led to the headed chance that really should have been finished to make it 2-2. Other than maybe Scowen with his intelligence to win a foul, Morley is pretty much indispensable at this point.
If he is recalled it will take a big rethink from the coaching staff to reasses how we.play in possession
If he does go back to Bolton, which I seriously hope he doesn't ! I'm sure the management team will already be looking at possible replacements, and will have someone lined up.
The January window will probably be one of our most important for quite a while.
The 3 outfield loanees have been so important to the way we play and losing any of them will be a blow. However, the dilemma is are we going recruit to push for promotion or are we going to stick with the current squad less maybe one or two of our loan players.
The fact that we are now top of the league is probably unexpected for our owners and management team and comes sooner than originally envisaged.
It is a fact that we are good enough to compete at the top but as Matt said, we need to keep moving forward. Investment in the January window may give us a better chance of securing a promotion place and prepare us better for the jump to the championship if we are fortunate enough to succeed. Add to that the fact that financial controls are more stringent in the Championship and that the addition monies spent in January to push for promotion will probably be less than the additional £7M or so TV rights we would get for going up to the championship.
January will certainly be an interesting time for Matt and Dan.
I think Blooms mentioned on the fans forum that he was about to sit down with Dan to discuss January. Hopefully they are well ahead of the game regards having to replace Morley if he was recalled. I would think they are preparing to make an offer to buy him🤞
For me Morley is now one of the first names on the team sheet. If he’s available at a decent price, no brainer to sign him. He’d be a decent investment given his age too. If he’s not I’m sure the team have other options lined up to replace him.
I expect Humphries will almost certainly stay, he’s getting regular games so no reason for Ipswich to disrupt that.
There did seem to be some speculation that WBA would need to recall Taylor due to injuries but again I expect we have an alternative lined up if that’s the case.
I see no world in which Humphreys doesn’t stay. He’s not going to play for Ipswich and he’s playing week in week out in a team playing good football with him at the heart of it. Would be a huge risk for them to call him back to ship him to a championship side which might not work out. Taylor and Morley much bigger risks, but I think we’ll see all three on the pitch for us come May, with league one title medals around their necks
Yeah if Morley wants to leave he will leave, let's be real. Player power is king in today's football - he's just shopping for a higher price if Morley does want to go, emphasising length of contract etc
Evatt is a prize tool. What he can’t bring himself to say is “the lad is a class act, as he has shown this season. He’s found an environment where the manager, coaching staff and team mates have brought the best out of him. That’s clearly something I don’t have in my skill set. I wish the lad well and I personally will learn from this that being an arrogant twat isn’t always the best way to manage players”
It’s really weird that football fans expect owners to spend significant amounts of their own money, usually on players.
It’s something I’ve really noticed recently with football fans. It doesn’t happen in any other walk of life, someone popping and telling you to spunk your dough on this or that.

Harsh but true @StrongestTeam , then again someone probably posted similar on a Bournemouth fans site a few years back.
Evatt does seem a thoroughly unlikeable character but he's not going to say "yeah Wycombe smashed them so they're obviously pony and we'll bash them good" is he?
Reckon Evatt will be gone by January
And I reckon Morley will be a permanent Wycombe player by January.
His celebration at the end today did not look like the celebration of someone who will be leaving the club in a few weeks.
I'd say by lunchtime tomorrow.
In fairness to Evatt, he did say they'd face a better Stockport team!!
Evatt seems arrogant, but of all the 'big' teams that have dropped into L1, Bolton overall seem the least arrogant. Much prefer chatting to their supporters than the likes of Sunderland, Ipswich etc.
Yes agreed, Bolton fans are excellent.
I'd be delighted if GA or Robins rocked up at Bolton - aside from the fact we still have to play them twice!

500k is a rounding error for Lommy - sign the man!
Steady... isn't our transfer record still about 250/300k?

Of course I could be completely wrong
£220,000 for Sean Devine.

Bizarre article. Can’t seem to work out what they are actually saying.
I still think there is a strong chance that Morley signs permanently in January.
You'd have to think Ipswich would see this as an almost perfect loan.
He's playing most weeks, in a team who play football, score loads and are top of the league.
It couldn't really have gone any better for him so far, so would be daft to disrupt it.
Latest from Ian Evatt on Aaron Morley.

I think they'll take him back based on that. They'd be mad not to
“But fundamentally, we are the ones who pay the salary and signed him initially from Rochdale, built him into the player he has become." 🤢
Yeah if Morley wants to leave he will leave, let's be real. Player power is king in today's football - he's just shopping for a higher price if Morley does want to go, emphasising length of contract etc
It's just a negotiating tactic - "we control the shots so if you want him, your billionaire owner better know he won't come cheap". That's all.
