Watch us carefully weave golden threads into the glorious tapestry of our club's common culture with imagination, loyalty and constant application.
Best forum of the 92, best commentary team of the 92, best young manager of the 92. At this point we are blessed the team which has scored the most league goals in the 92 (and by some margin).
I understand we have the best Academy in the country on its way.
As for the fans, we have chairboys, chairgirls, armchairgirls and armchairboys a plenty, plus a drummer who never stops.
We are a club where individualism is valued and respected and forms part of the whole. The only thing we are missing is a fan who lives within a couple of miles of the Stadium of Light.
It’s classic Elek to be hyper-focused on xG. He made some interesting points, but all of which were easy pieces of analysis from observing entry-level stats. I do wonder if he only watches the 2 min highlight videos.
He obviously missed the point about Leahy not taking the last two penalties because 1) he handed one to Kone for a hat trick and 2) Leahy was injured and therefore not on the pitch.
I prefer Ali Maxwell’s analysis. And Gab Sutton’s.
Anyway, nice of him to praise us so vehemently. I just wish he’d do a bit more research if he’s going to participate in a 5-10 min long segment on us.
Just confused by shot accuracy. Is this shots on target? There are 17 balls on the graphic, which if there is a total of 33 shots, gives a 52% accuracy? Or am I missing something.
I agree with this and I found some of the other stats a little confusing to be honest, but what I wanted to say is that the young guy is a very talented broadcaster who never once hesitated or interrupted his flow and was clear and precise in his delivery. Very impressive.
If this is the kind of data we are using for all our decisions, I fear for the worse.
17 shots on target out of 33 shots total, resulting in 9 goals versus an xG of 6.1.
I can't compute any of those numbers as 73% of another.
(It is the number of non goal scoring shots 24 as a percentage of total shots 33. But why you'd call that shot accuracy I don't know - I'd call it shot errors).
This helps explain. Shot accuracy is 52%, i.e 17 on target out of 33 (although I can't tell which of the shots is on target - and the position of two shots do indeed overlap)
Just as an aside and going back to the game, I was trying to remember if we were ever caught offside at Lincoln? I honestly can’t recall it and I don’t see enough of us to know whether this is unusual. Too many years watching Wycombe make it feel a little strange but is that the new normal for us?
(And in fairness to Lincoln I can only remember them getting caught offside once or twice)
How times change. I’m sure it’s not that long ago where we’d have about a dozen each game. (And I seem to remember an earlier version of Fred being quite culpable)
I'll accept your word, although I'm sure I've seen games where shots blocked by a defender before reaching the keeper end up not being counted as shots even though they were otherwise on target.
Depends on the data provider, but Opta - whose data feeds into FotMob and the like - count them. What I'm not sure on is how a shot blocked on the line is classed - I'd imagine there's a distance after which the ball is so close to the goal that it physically has to be on target. But then a shot saved by the keeper could technically off target if the keeper gets a hand to one going wide 🤷♂️

Hats off to Lincoln City too for playing Blitzkrieg Bop by the Ramones before the start!
And to Wheels for choosing Bulls on Parade as one of his three playlist picks.
you mean he didn't choose meatloaf?!
I would do anything for Blues, but I won’t do that.
very good

Rather over-focusing on xG
Bloomfield "came into the job having never done it before". Well he didn't, did he?
But overall, quite positive. And satisfying to hear from an Oxford fan.

Also - imagine being that stat-focused and not even mentioning the fact Kone is averaging a goal every <90 mins in the league.
But it was a good spot on Kone's shot placement. I hadn't noticed that.

Yeah, the graphic only shows shots on target
Idk what you'd call that, but I'd say 'shot accuracy' should be % on target out of the overall number of shots
Perhaps there are seven shots that totally overlap - spot the ball time🤔
I can barely wait till we have had the "shooting to the right" training session - Kone will be scoring six a game!

Oh hang on, shot accuracy excluded blocked shots.
Blimey. 15 mins all about stats which I suppose is what the club are all about now. Wasn’t bad at all
interesting the line “if you’re a keeper, dive right” as all of Kones goals have been to the left of the goal.

According to FotMob there were 0 offsides in the match. Before that, we had 1 offside in every game going back to Burton, where we had 2
Thanks @manchesterchairboy

I didn't think blocked shots (by a defender) counted for anything these days?
Aren't they either shots off target, goals or saved by the keeper?
Blocked shots are still recorded, probably more useful to look at from a defensive perspective
