Because without a source or any evidence it just sounds like made up nonsense. Any good journalist would protect their source, of course, but they’d have more evidence than ‘someone said so’
But there is absolutely nothing of any substance in what you have said. It is only (by the sound of it) one person’s opinion and gossip.
Your original post actually should read:
”I have a mate who thinks that Dan Rice is an over-rated ‘weasel’” (really strange word in this context and hints at a personal issue your mate/source has)
Perfectly valid to say it that way (and about as meaningless as it read originally - but slightly less mean-spirited)
Could one of our magnificent Tech Titans please post a link to Football Insider/ Pete O' Rourke posting at 14.36 about us " sacking" Scott Mitchell, Head of Recruitment.
He came with Blooms team, Richard Thomas etc, the guy behind the two most successful transfer windows in club history.
We're 2nd in the table and sacked Mr Mitchell, Head of Recruitment.
Apparently, we want to move in a different direction.
Or, alternatively, the most recent window was not handled by Scott Mitchell, as the club made many comments about statistical evaluations for the first time. E.g. Harvie’s ability to play well as a full back, despite being a wing back. The January window felt very different it its approach.
Yeah and article states that he joined in July 2023. That 2023 summer window was an utter mess in hindsight. Not sure why the article makes him out as some sort of transfer genius. It even suggests we’re a low budget club. We’re definitely not. We’ve got the most senior pros we’ve ever had. A development squad. A new training ground. A new pitch. And a billionaire owner. Shocking journalism. I’m sure the data suggested Scott Mitchell wasn’t as qualified as we want.
Scott Mitchell as Head of Recruitment, joined a club up for sale, 30% reduction in budget approx. and took care of the last two transfer windows. We are 2nd.
We are not the 2nd best payers therefore Blooms' and his staff are outperforming.
As Dan Rice himself said this week, he only became involved March/ April 2024
Many players will have had a relationship with Scott Mitchell which is why they may have agreed to join us.
We are 2nd in League 1 playing the best football for years.
I believe Scott Mitchell, who arrived as part of Blooms' team in 2023, to be an essential part of success this calendar year.
It’s quite reassuring in some ways that even though everything about our ownership has changed @NiceCarrots remains implacably opposed to them. In a world of constant flux you need some things that don’t change.
Any mystery over the @Bloomball source is dispelled, anyway.
I must admit some of these sackings do make me uncomfortable. I find it hard to believe Cameron Humphreys, for example, was not another Mitchell signing, given his background at the Ipswich academy, and since that initial rough summer our recruitment has been almost completely on point.
It's hard when we don't know the underlying details, but on the surface it seems some well performing people have been unceremoniously dispatched, and we are not really going to know the loyalty level of the new regime until Blooms has his first bad run. For a club that has been known for loyalty, it is definitely a bit of a shock to the system (albeit with some assumptions made).
You can believe what you want. I know for a fact what I’ve posted is correct. I’ll leave it at that. Don’t let the fact that we are doing well cloud everything else that is going on. Mitchell being sacked is another thing to back up what I’ve put.
Alternatively, Dan Rice and Jeremy Sauer were incredibly prescriptive in the sort of people they want in and around the club moving forward. Those that are flexible, willing to learn and humble enough to be open to new ideas and learn from others within the footballing space.
“Decided to go another way” is just code for “you don’t fit in with how we plan to run things”. Which is ok. That happens with changes in ownerships.
I’m mean, I’m not saying it’s ever nice when it happens, but whenever there’s any change in ownership at any company, people move on or are moved on.
Scott Mitchell came to us as a former Head of Ipswich Academy doing a head of recruitment role. We now have Jeremy sauer as head of the Academy and looking to fill the club - top to bottom with his own team within recruitment as described in the interview. We also have Dan rice, who’s previous roles including scouting and, guess what, head of recruitment.
Too many cooks?
Again, from the interview, it sounds to me that the scouting and club focus on the academy is going to be very London centric. At least initially.
Maybe Scott’s pool of knowledge, while helped with Humphrey’s, doesn’t extend as far as we will need going forward. That we need someone with more links and expirence. That Scott won’t fit with the “head of recruitment” title going forward if we need someone above him with a more strategic view on recruitment - and he didn’t want a step down in position.
We could come up with a million theories as to what happened. But I think Occams Razor will explain it closer than anything any of us have - the club and new owners want to go in a different direction.
It is inevitable with a change of ownership that there will be casualties. We are moving from the best we can afford to the best available as the budgets increase by a factor of x.
This is business folks and it will happen on and off the pitch I’m guessing over the coming years

It really but look into it anyway you want!

I’m super confident in my source and I won’t be revealing it.
My source says he’s a super awesome guy, loves puppies and kittens and volenteers at a hospital for disabled badgers on Christmas Day.

Not certain why anyone is responding to @Bloomball . His comments are clearly have no substance. Just ignore him and hopefully he’ll just go away.

Are we rating the January one ahead of that summer after we almost went down? The one where we brought in JJ, Pierre, Jombati, Hayes and Murphy?
That instantly turned us into a playoff contender?
Or, alternatively, the most recent window was not handled by Scott Mitchell, as the club made many comments about statistical evaluations for the first time. E.g. Harvie’s ability to play well as a full back, despite being a wing back. The January window felt very different it its approach.
Not forgetting Alfie too.
That is an absolutely mad omission from me - the absolute star man that season!

Article states that we didn’t pay a fee for any player this summer. Article is immediately wrong - we paid for both Harvie and George

To add, sacking of Scott Mitchell should be seen in context of dismissal of the "Wrexham Two".
Dreadful timing for Blooms et al before first match and reflected in the result.
They are playing Jenga with Blooms.

Give an informed reason as to why then, otherwise you’re just stating someone’s opinion - one that maybe biased - as a fact.
I won’t be saying anymore. I’ve no axe to grind with Rice. Just passing on what I’ve heard.
Alternatively, Dan Rice and Jeremy Sauer were incredibly prescriptive in the sort of people they want in and around the club moving forward. Those that are flexible, willing to learn and humble enough to be open to new ideas and learn from others within the footballing space.

No axe to grind, but came here out of the blue saying “He’s not talented, he's a weasel and isn’t highly thought of in the game”.
Thats some impressive non axe grinding axe grinding you’ve got there.
You had no need to make personal comments / insults. You absolutely, clearly do have an axe to grind.
Scott Mitchell is no longer listed on WWFC Who’s Who page: https://www.wwfc.com/club/contacts
How he can label this as "fact" is hilarious.
Definitely up there with @marlowchair levels of axe-grinding, just without any guile or eloquence.
This news came out of the blue to me, doesn't sit well with me this
Why?
