The Stuart Roberts game v Northampton was an extraordinary one. He was playing a different game. It made his career at Wycombe even more frustrating and his supposed treatment by the then manager even more upsetting.
Kevin Betsy at Stamford Bridge. Yes we lost 4-0 but he gave Ashley Cole a torrid time that night. Cole was probably the best left back in the world at that point and he just couldn’t live with Betsy.
If i'm remembering correctly that was his last game for us in his first spell, and arguably his best. Clearly had the deal arranged but had insisted on playing in this game first.
Gave Cole a real going over and we had some decent spells in the early exchanges.
If only the Doc hadn't played an absolutely criminal giveaway ball across his own area to Shevchenko who knows what might have been. Yes, 99 times out of 100 we'd still have lost, but it's all about that 1 time in cup football v a giant.
Seen Kevin Betsy mentioned a couple of times but I thought his best ever game for us was when we won 3-1 at Gigg Lane under Waddock leaving us 1 win from promotion
Darren Currie in that preseason friendly against Spurs in 2001 just after he signed. It wasn't a competitive fixture but he made his marker (Stephen Carr?) look like a complete mug.
I don't have a good enough memory to remember who it was against, but I remember a game during Stuart Beavon's purple patch where he looked like the best player we'd ever had.
I remember seeing Betsy against us when we played at Barnsley and he absolutely ripped us to shreds. I couldn't believe it when he joined us a year or two later.
Was that the one where he scored a goal by collecting a ball that looked like it was comfortably heading out of play for a goal kick? He ran from way back for it and I recall most people around me sighing and one or two asking why he was wasting energy by bothering to chase a ball he was clearly never getting to, only to see him make (the future) Usain Bolt look a bit sedate by getting to the ball and dribbling it around a keeper who had been expecting to be taking a goal kick, and score.
That's not the one I had in mind. Having checked it was against Cardiff the following season. Time it seems has embroidered my memory of it a bit though. He chased a long ball along the wing and beat the keeper to it, when it initially looked like a lost cause for most.
In all seriousness, I fully agree with Kashket at Chesterfield and Bayo at Southend. McCleary was completely unplayable at Cambridge away, the season we lost to Sunderland in the playoff final. JJ vs Sunderland at home that season was also immense in every way

Already mentioned, but Anthony Stewart in THE playoff final is top of my all time list.
I'll add - Akinfenwa, Southend away, April 2019. Two goals and won everything in a vital game.
Also a niche one; Hogan Ephraim, Oxford away, November 2014. He looked superb but it never really happened again.
Bayo was brilliant in that Southend game, his contribution brought an end to our long winless run, and set us up nicely for our push to safety.

Glorious run that one, so many heroes. Easter before he turned rogue was an absolute beast in that run.
Mark West in the Trophy Final, laying on the first goal for Scotty, and scoring the winner with a diving header. That game was as 'key' as it gets.

It was indeed. Can't really remember how the rest of his time with us panned out but he was very entertaining to watch.
