Especially after the statement from Bielik this week - "we're too good for league one" - would be a joy to see them stay down. Clearly you aren't too good because you got relegated last season!
I would quite like it if (given the two money bag clubs go up) we swopped places with Plymouth @MindlessDrugHoover but I fear Wazza might keep them up.
Have to confess that I was of the opinion that Matt looked lost and somewhat out of his depth early part of last season.
We couldn't buy a win and he seemed determined to make the same mistake - playing or going to 5 at the back - repeatedly.
I didn't want him gone, nor did I want him to fail. However, it reminded me so much of the period under John Gorman following the deaths of Mark Philo and John's wife Myra. It became clear in that period, and totally understandably, that John couldn't find the switch to get results back in track.
Last year, I was of the opinion that maybe Matt needed someone with more experience alongside him - maybe even John Gorman - for six months.
I am more than happy to now say, "I was wrong".
Matt has, I think, come on a great deal as a manager in the past 12 months. Don't know his contract situation, but I hope we have him secured on a long deal. I could easily see him coming to the attention of clubs higher in the league if we continue to perform as we are currently.
Very wisely put. I wonder if we'll come to view the early months of Blooms time as manager in the same way as the first few months of GA's tenure, when, by his own admission, he was out of his depth.
I really hope Blooms leaves us by being poached (eventually) rather than our new (unknown quantity) owners getting trigger-happy if we go through any lulls in results. More and more, I am believing that Blooms is developing a skillset to succeed further up the food chain, and it would be delightful if we were successful enough for him to eventually move on to an Ipswich-type club.
Wonderful to see the change of heart from so many posters.
Quite a turnaround for Blooms and his staff considering they had comprehensively lost the dressing room, had no Plan B, were out of their depth etc etc.
I hope we continue to be a football club that has a bit of respect and patience for its staff - for me, it’s the greatest legacy of the Couhig era.
I hung on soooo long as Bloomfield in.... but admit I did eventually change my mind.
Another thing we can look back and thank RC for actually. He kept faith if many of us ended up not doing so.
Blooms has made the team his own. He has got them playing how he wants them to play. Hats off to matty and his team. They really have done a superb job.
Goes to show the importance of giving trust and time to the right person.
I admit I wanted Bloomfield to leave and I got that wrong , he has done a great job since. Although to be fair the squad is far bigger and guessing well paid which the club could never support under Cohig . Just remember Gaz never had that level of support financially and that has to be taken into context .
True! I do think one thing that can be said either way now is that Blooms has a clear style, just like GA did, and that brings a real sense of progress, especially as it tends to be a high scoring style currently!
Ipswich are to Blooms what Blackburn are to Ainsworth. Both released them as young men from their local club.
Wycombe Wanderers FC is home to Matt Bloomfield. The awful run last season would have hurt him more than any of us, it's fantastic to see how he's grown and developed as a coach and manager after realising the system he was persisting in wasn't working.
As was mentioned by many posters, the Couhigs deserve credit for pressing the "back" button instead of the "sack" one that you would imagine most other FL club chairmen would have been frantically bashing.
I definitely had doubts but I have always been slow in calling for a head. Only Alan Smith and ‘The Wadfather’ have irked me enough in almost 40 years. I assume I’d nodded off for Peter Taylor.
He saw in the way Matt worked and conducted himself during the week something which we didn't and realised that pressing the "sack" button would have been a big mistake.

Mind you, it'd be quite funny seeing them swap places with Wayne Rooney's Plymouth(TM)
It would be hilarious, but it's not going to happen. I think records will be broken
We can but dream @eric_plant

(unless of course he gets the Man U job. )
Another stat based tweet
I'm am happy for all of us, but so very happy for Blooms!

Could Ipswich eventually be to Bloomfield what QPR was to Ainsworth?
I really hope Blooms doesn't leave us, and King Kone takes over as manager in the Prem in 2051 upon Matt's retirement
Ainsworth was a QPR club legend. Ipswich means a lot to Blooms, but he left there when he was what, 19?
We are to Bloomfield what QPR was to Ainsworth
He's already at the club of his dreams. 20 year contract please

Of course we'd love Blooms to stay if he is successful, but if someone bigger comes calling, there is every chance he would move on.
You got it right. I and many certainly were slightly concerned at the first take over, and then very concerned after that.
To not have even the slightest doubt should be applauded.

Rob C ‘sticking’ with Blooms can be put down to one or more of the following:
Yes, I held on as Blooms in until halftime against Fleetwood, where I reluctantly changed. The rest is history.

Or perhaps ...

I reluctantly came to the conclusion that Blooms had to go. That awful FA cup game, Orient away…
So glad I was wrong.
I too was part of the Smith Out festival away at Peterborough. Felt weirdly like a celebration
I was Sanchez Out by the end of his reign as well. Which saddened me as he'd given so much joy.
They were the only two for me
Rob's reign of terror was such a disaster. Lucky there was always at least one person who saw through it all. 🙂
Fleetwood had me leaning towards the hook for Matt. Whatever selfish underhand reasons Rob had for sticking by him...glad he did.
Not even Tony Adams?!
You see, now I realise how bad my memory is. Had forgotten about Sanchez’s death spiral - I was fully in favour of his departure.
