mrs micra and I went there once. We bought 4 ounces of sugared almonds, ate a few of them on the way home and I was sick more or less as we walked through the front door. Have not eaten a sugared almond since. They are death to dentures in any case.
I did go to Reading on another occasion now that I think about it. To watch the Wanderers, of course. All I remember about the match was being extremely high up at one end of the ground and watching the great Sean Devine terrorising the Reading defence. I think we won.
PS not sure how the Royal Biscuit quote crept in, unless it was to enquire how difficult the form filling might prove to be.
It's more to do with how terms like that have been used as derogatory and/or terms of abuse. It doesn't feel that long ago that left-arm leg spinners were sometimes called that name in cricket, though as the term has been used as a deragtory term elsewhere outside of cricket (where it was neutral from what I could gather) it's fallen out of use.
Who owned the club at the time of the sacking? In any transfer to Couhig, Couhig will likely have obtained indemnities from Yongge for any outstanding legal claims. Good luck to Bowen!
Do I hear the phrase 'stumbling block'? On the surface he has an open and shut case. Depending on his contract, and Reading is not known for fiscal responsibility, the payout could be a pretty penny.
Breaking FA rules and bringing disrepute on the club could be considered gross misconduct in some circumstances, Toney being kept on by Brentford because he is an asset might go against, Readings biggest problem though might be trying to argue that anything done by Bowen could possibly harm what is left of their reputation.
Three other Reading employees have been found guilty of breaching FA regulations but haven't been asked to leave. Bowen's legal team will ask why him and not them.
With his salary well into six figures, for a club who have been in serious financial difficulties these past few years — and which is the subject of a possible takeover by the American lawyer Rob Couhig — Bowen’s departure would represent a significant saving.
I have to say, given the conditions under which their squad are being required to perform they really are doing well (on the pitch at least) - let’s hope they continue to get paid and don’t have points deducted through no fault of their own.
As others have said Rob should walk away. Let’s hope his ego doesn’t get in the way of that.
We didn’t get similar plaudits when we were signing players who were rejects and misfits for shirt buttons as we were bust. Last summer they signed some great players on long deals. I’m not buying this brave heroes narrative being sold by some.
Yeah it’s a load of nonsense. Signing some of the best League 1 players in Wing, Knibbs and Sam Smith at the time. But they’re hard done by and deserve to take their rightful place back in the Championship - yeah right.
I 100% see where this comes from and I do think it’s a bit weird. The whole “yeah I’m a wanderer” thing meant nothing really did it? Still doesn’t stop me posting it on twitter as a fishing exercise every now and then (yes, I know I should grow up)
But anyway, on another point - has our new owner come and seen us play at all yet this season? I mean Rob isn’t even the owner of Reading and he’s seen them a couple of times I think.
I don’t want to start a bandwagon of jumping on ML as he is clearly doing things in the background with the academy and signings etc but at least with the Couhigs - Pete in particular, although circumstance may have forced his hand a bit - at least tried to show they cared enough to come a visit the ground on a match day.
I know many will probably disagree and it is perhaps a bit early to start worrying but his absence will get more worrying for me as season goes on. I mean, if he doesn’t care or “get it” about the on field stuff to come to a few games - why’s he even bought us? Does he really care about wycombe wanderers or just writing cheques for the academy he obviously wants.

Here's an article published today about Couhig and others who switch from club to club...

Is that because the price increases and they need to raise more funds?

Funnily enough, I also once vommed after eating sugared almonds and never ate them again.

You'll get used to the gasroom.
I must admit for all the thanks and respect I have for Rob in his role in transforming our club the whole badge kissing at Reading will grind with me.
Such a bland, boring badge to kiss too. It must taste like starch and whey.
Is this an opportune moment to post I once had Steve Death's autograph ( ex- Royals Glovesman) , probably not.
Mark Bowen now suing Reading for unfair dismissal after his contract was terminated following his ban from football for being a bit dodgy.
Another thing for Rob's in tray should he ever get across the threshold.
Can't imagine he's got even the slightest chance of winning that gamble.
Who's he going to sue, Yongge or Rob?
The club
Yongge would offer him double or quits.

Yet another hurdle for Team Couhig to overcome in their takeover bid.
Quote from The Times article

Rob should walk away, the club is a real mess.

Rumours are that they could walk away as it is being made impossible for a deal to go through. This is through reading socials.

If I was Rob (+ or - ?) a consortium.... id cut loose and call it a day
He wouldn't be there if it wasn't a mess.
True facts I guess....

It's the latter and, to be fair to the guy, he's always been very upfront about this.
