I know this is very much a straw poll but it does reflect my experience. Very difficult to find anyone intending to vote Tory - from what they say at least a very large number of people normally voting them seem to have switched to Reform. The exit poll at 10pm tomorrow May be very interesting…..
I'd love to know how anyone could vote tory after what they've done to this country. The chances of me meeting one willing to admit it are close to zero, so if our one tory voter on here could tell me, I'm all ears.
Because there are genuinely people out there who believe Labour, even under Starmer, would give their houses away to jihadists posing as asylum seekers, and force their (grand)children to be trans. Doesn't take long on Facebook or X to realise that.
I'm hoping the feelgood factor from being rid of this morally bankrupt rabble of chancers will spread across the country and indeed Europe and breathe life into England's European Championship campaign.
Imagine waking up on sunday to the knowledge that England are in the semi finals and the Tories are out of government with fewer than 100 seats
One of the political highlights of the year was an interview I read with a couple of London del-boys. In the morning they'd sell Israeli flags to people going on pro-Israel marches and in the afternoon they'd sell Palestine flags to those on pro-Palestine marches.
"We ran out of Palestine flags and started selling Jordinian flags instead. Nobody noticed" said the loveable rogues.
I agree. What a shambles they are. I am amazed that some people still believe Sunak has been a good PM. Even his Tory colleagues think he is a liability.
I think they (the Tories), will land on 75-85 seats, which will blow them away once and for all.
Genuinely interested on what basis they are choosing to vote Reform. No judgement on what they purport to stand for, but Farage himself has said the manifesto isn't designed to form a plan to actually govern. So all they've got is a list of wishes which aren't deliverable in the real world. At that point surely all credibility goes out of the window.
Happy to admit that I will be voting Conservative in the Chesham and Amersham constituency.
Born with blue blood into a family who started with very little, suffered through two world wars and who built up their own business putting customers first, I then joined the Conservative Party 50 years ago this year.
LIke my long term allegiance to Tottenham Hotspur and more recently to Wycombe Wanderers, you learn to cope with the ups and downs of life and accept victory and defeat with the same amount of good grace.
I respect you Alan, but I sincerely fail to understand the equivalence between supporting a football team and a political party
If Wycombe Wanderers ever started killing off disabled people and continually spouted rubbish about migrants who came to Adam's park I would stop supporting them....
Politics is ever changing and effects people's lives, partisan support despite obvious corruption and in many cases outright malfeasance helps the elitist political cretins across the political spectrum keep power.
Agreed. However, people have a choice and I respect the fact that @AlanCecil wishes to vote for the Tories, that is his choice and we are all allowed that choice thank god.
Of course, and in the present situation I do respect that choice.
Although if a party did outright say "we're going to massacre XYZ" or even something else less horrific but flagrantly illegal, I do worry how many people would still vote for them out of either ignorance or ideology (or both). I'm not sure they should be "allowed" to vote for such a party, and it would not deserve respect.
We're getting closer to that scenario being relevant than ever in my lifetime.
I'd be interested to hear how you square your own decency and moral compass with a party whose leadership has time and again proven itself to be anything but.
Feel free to tell me to mind my own business of course
Continuing with the football-ification of politics theme, I do tink a lot of people would just stop going to matches in general if their team lost their support rather than switch allegiances.
Definitely voting Labour in Sherwood Forest after seeing Reform’s position in the final YouGov poll. Anything else comes with the serious risk of having a Reform MP 😱

The only realistic part of this poll is the SNP share of the vote

Wishing and hoping went out of the window a long time ago, Alan. Not with Dusty Springfield but, arguably, with Borisapocalypse. Forget Starmergeddon.
Cant’t forget Borisapocalypse.
Not sure it's possible for Starmer to be worse than the last 4 Tory Prime Ministers. In order or ineptitude, Truss, Sunak, May and Johnson.
Wow those 4 were pretty bad.

And Cameron was arguably the worst of the lot.
It will definitely start with "Because labour are ..."

Dare we dream?
Or ‘Well just imagine how bad it would’ve been under Corbyn’.
I work with a couple of loud and proud Tory voters. Neither are voting at all tomorrow. Lovely stuff.

Has anyone in Wendover had @Wendoverman on their doorstep? Please report any sightings.
Greatly missed.
But why would they have a stock of Jordanian flags?
Yeah, very made up story.
We live in a post-truth world, boss.
About a dozen now.

In answer came there one. Does feel a bit like O’Brien’s footballification.
I respect @AlanCecil’s support for Tottenham Hotspur, though.

Thanks @AlanCecil - entirely mystified still as to how you could still, after everything. But respect for answering!
