GMac has said he would like to play for a couple more years, so maybe he wants a two year rather than one year deal?
Also, he was quite troubled by the poor atmosphere from the terrace at the end of last year and, despite attempts to improve the situation, we can hardly claim to have a terrific vocal support at home.
*I know that second paragraph is going to trigger some but it is what it is.
Could be posturing. Could genuinely believe he can play higher. Max won’t have made the statement himself. His agent / team will have. I’ve always thought he could play Championship football, much to the dismay of many of you recently. Let’s see where he ends up. Top goalkeeper whether he had a bust up with the team or the management or neither.
I am not sure whether his social media message was posted before or after he was offered a new contract. He is still a top quality footballer and I know he enjoys life at WWFC so fingers crossed that he signs for another year.
Wasn't he playing Championship football in Scotland? Could he be aiming for a Scottish Prem team to come looking? After all, Celtic will be shopping for a keeper and if they go looking in Scotland it might open a gap for Max to fill??
We know Max's faults and we can go through them again and again. However, he has done amazing here dispite being a panic buy. He came in very quickly as an unknown after our business with Man Utd & Bishop fell flat on its arse!
I don’t think it is harsh at all. His kicking is not up to scratch. It invited pressure on us and contributed to some results. His utterly woeful distribution means he is not good enough for this current level in my opinion. His statement suggesting he should be playing Championship football is utterly bizarre.
A lot us thought Allsop was the weak link in league 1, then he went off to the championship.
So we will see.
Although again - I don't want to overly defend Max here - my position is that he's a solid L1 keeper at best. It's the assertion that a pro footballer "can't kick a ball properly" that is a bit over the top.
I wonder if Ravizzoli is intended to be first choice next season. It would surprise me if so, but he has played very well considering his limited experience.

It’s not always related to appearances, it can simply be a decision made by the club.

Pretty strange statement that
It can't be many if McCarthy managed to trigger it!
Good luck to Max. It will be interesting to see if he’s successful in his desire to play at a higher level and with the commensurate salary.
This is Max's statement in full

He won’t be of interest to championship clubs because he can’t kick a football properly.
Good league one/two keeper if he can reduce the errors.
Certainly sets alarm bells ringing.....

He's in a long running dispute on X with ADT_UK about their alarm systems. I was using this information to make a quip.
Thanks for explaining because I don’t do X or Instagram.

I'd love Celtic to boot Joe Hart out and sign Max. But that's mainly because I come from the other side of Glasgow.
Ah, a fellow Gers devotee. Always had a soft spot for them since the days of Walter Smith, a wonderful guy.
Must have made MO’Ns time at Celtic ‘interesting’ for you…
Joe Hart is retiring, He's leaving on his own terms
We used to wind each other up about our respective favourites and John Gorman is an even bigger Celtic man.
Always thought the gasroom really overrated him at times, but think it's a little harsh to say he can't kick a football properly 🤔
I still haven’t gotten over that dreadful injury time goal kick at Fratton Park back in October that led to that bizarre winner.
It was a miserable late night train back to London
I would say you need to stop dwelling on these things.
But then I remember I'll never understand why Blackman managed to hash that kick out of his hands up so badly at 3-2 up away at Tottenham.
Literally anywhere else would have probably been enough to see that game out.

And if not (given the experience he now has) then he would surely be better off looking for a club where he will be.
Just a rumour but I've heard we might be signing Joe Hart.
I’m sure there was a rumour at the time that Paul Robinson was going to play in the playoff semi against Plymouth.
Now that would make me feel good.
