Another good day, with everyone dropping points aside from the idle Fleetwood who already can't catch us. Again, with our goal difference the points needed is really a point lower (4).
If we beat Shrewsbury on Saturday we would be a point away too, as we would be on 54 (assuming we lose to Derby) and they could get no more than 55 at that point, with an away to Bolton up next.
Worth also noting that Cambridge play Port Vale on the last day, and Burton play Cheltenham soon. Of a necessity, someone will drop points in those games.
Cheltenham lose to Carlisle. Officially 3 points from safety now, but with goal difference considerations it is 2. Cheltenham and Burton play each other at some point, and anything other than a Cheltenham win in that game would see us safe.
Realistically, it will probably be over before then, possibly as soon as Saturday - or even tomorrow, should we manage to beat the tax dodgers.
Put another way, we could lose every game, and the only thing that would send us down is a 5 game Cheltenham winning streak plus Port Vale dropping less than 4 points in their remaining 5.
With tongue firmly in cheek I say "Since we have to play Port Vale, Cambridge, Shrewsbury and Carlisle before the season end - if we manage to get relegated we truly deserve it!"
Haha - very true! And even our best efforts would likely fall short, with how little room for error the likes of Cheltenham, Burton and Port Vale have.
As you can see, I am going to need a new hobby soon.
In summary, because Burton and Cheltenham play each other, the only way we can get relegated is if Cheltenham and Port Vale win every game, and Port Vale also overturn a GD deficit of 27 goals to us.
So, if we lose every remaining game 3-0, and Port Vale win every remaining game 3-0, we would be in serious trouble!

Burton have become the "In" form team destined to grab a relegation spot.
If we beat Port Vale we are safe, whatever else happens.
Looking at our fixtures, have we ever had a run with 4 aways in a row in our league days before?
Let alone over a mere11 days? Utterly mad.

Officially official. Almost certain to come at least 16th, too.
Yep, the fat lady finally let rip!
That's gonna leave quite a stench
Of halitosis presumably.
Keep the thread going for comments about WWIII, which might have just started now.
Things could be worse. At least we didn't bring Uche back.
