Having worked in Derby for 22 years I can confirm that it is one of the UK’s most underwhelming cities.
Your choice for entertainment is Derby County or Rollerworld. Their version of The Swan set fire 10 years ago, sparing the population from an appearance that evening by dance sensation Anton Du Beke, and stands empty on the market square to this day.
There is literally nothing else happening. That’s why they get decent crowds.
I have to say I couldn’t care less about next Wednesday. I’d imagine others, including players, will have a similar feeling. Sunday is all that matters.
I saw that piece and took it as a piece of satire, not to be taken seriously. About as seriously as Kim_Il_Swan's little outburst on here. Unfortunately we have a minority of fans who will remain anti WW and you have anti Rams...
Personally, on here, even when we haven't agreed, it's been kept civil. There's more of us than them and I'd like to keep it that way. One bad apple, and all that.
It hadn't really registered until I read a BBC interview with Blooms this morning this would be our first piece of silverware as a professional club. Chance to be history makers!
I knew most Conference clubs were part-time back then, I just thought some might have turned full-time for a tilt at promotion by the early 90s. Clearly not!
Just looking at the previous EFL Trophy winners, and I think only Salford have won it after earning promotion to the EFL for the first time - at least in the automatic promotion era

I think we should get those printed. đź‘Ť

Gaz plus two former Peterborough players are the pundits for Sky's coverage. Bit biased...
Gaz is worth ten of their chaps.
Still time to add Jamie Mackie into the mix for extra sourness.
Fair point

... as it should be, clubs like yours and mine aren't serial Wembley attenders. Have a great day out, one and all.
As @glasshalffull mentioned earlier in the thread we are lucky enough to be a little bit serial Wembley attenders.

BBC News - EFL Trophy: Matt Bloomfield 'proud' as Wycombe prepare for final

Doesn't the play off final trophy and the little plate thingy for finishing 3rd in League 2 count?
I've definitely got a picture standing next to something silver which we got as a consequence of winning the playoffs
And were we not a professional club when we won the FA Trophy Finals? Perhaps “as a Football League club” would be more accurate.
I forgot about the little plate thingy
The players were still part time when we won the two FA Trophy finals.
Weren't they pro when we won the Conference title?
No. Almost all of them also had full time jobs
Our captain was a warehouse manager and missed the second half of the season following a forklift truck accident
It's the norm for conference clubs to be professional now. Back than it was only the league teams who got relegated who stayed professional
No, some of our players went pro the following summer but it was very rare for a conference side to be pro then. Maybe only Col U had been by 93?
Interesting - genuinely never knew
Showing you're only a youngster

Only 25 seats left now in block 250, so block 249 should open soon.
Colchester were full time when we drew the Conference with them, but as Eric pointed out, we remained semi-pro until we joined the Football League.
I was going to say it's unheard of now, but I have a feeling Sutton were part-time when they won it the other year. Would need to check.
