Thumbing
I've just been doing a little data diving in the DB to work out who it is that thinks it's funny to downvote every single post Wendoverman makes, and imagine my surprise when I discovered it's the same people who thought it was hilarious to downvote every post Micra made. Grow up, stop being cunts. If it continues I'll name and ban you. The thumbs are not there for you to be playground bullies.

I say make thumbs up and down visible, so we know who's done what, that would make the ones over doing it stop I reckon.
Just take them away completely.
Some sites just have likes, which I could get behind too - some posts are so good that it would be a shame to be unable to react positively to them!

How would you know that? My likes go through a thorough vetting process involving psychologists, scientists and a popular vote of comedians from around the world.
That second bit made me laugh out loud (so that is what a lol is). A bit awkward though - any Gasroomers I meet in the future will be expecting to be folded in my arms like a baby.

I agree if people are misusing the thumbs down then take it away. If you don’t like something then you can say it.
@drcongo could you not take the thumbs down away? I am not an expert but if it could be done I feel it would enhance the site.

I seem to remember on the old Gasroom there was a thread listing a ‘league table’ of the number of posts made by contributors. I’d like to see an update of that on here.
All this talk about thumbs up and thumbs down is missing a far more serious issue

In the same way we can see how many thumbs up and down everyone has for their posts (I think!) is it technically possible to see how many thumbs up and down each poster has given?

I’m old enough (and sad enough) to remember the Gasroom existing in a state of perpetual guerilla warfare (with occasional breaks for power station identification) so all this feels a bit silly.
It used to kick off about the Dead Sea scrolls every other week!
As @Malone pointed out I was stupid to keep mentioning it even in jest. If downthumbing my score predictions keeps those posters away from sending dick pix, eating another six deliveroo pizzas or tying fireworks to cats even for a few seconds I can live with it.

This thread started off by berating posters who always down thumb posts by @Wendoverman and @micra.
Looking at the stats, Wendoverman has a 30% negative reaction ratio, Micra has 43%, whereas mine is 55%.
Therefore, I must insist that the DB is interrogated to identify all those who have down thumbed my posts at least 20 times, and the results extracted into a CSV file with the following fields:
Username | First Name | Surname | Address | Postcode | Email Address | DOB | Mobile No. | NI Number
The file should then be forwarded to Messrs. Sue, Grabbitt & Runne (Group Litigation Division), 40 Chancery Lane, London, WC2A 1JQ.
