Why don’t they just grow up and get on with life. They are a bunch of self righteous idiots and they have taken this too far in threatening people when they don’t get their own way.
I’d be very surprised if they left live chat on, but this is the football club that relied on the free version of Spotify to provide the National Anthem when Queen Liz passed away.
That was the absolute key to it, and I'd back said dog.
Although we'd probably need to clarify what sort of giant dog.
If it's a poodle, maybe not, if it's the sort of rabid alsation that I was admittedly a bit scared off in Micklefield the other day seeing it running around loose, with some woman forlornly screaming at it from a way away, then yes.
It's pretty brave to allow people to join the audio of the stream to put their questions to him, no doubt Reading fans are creaming themselves at the opportunity to recreate this moment from I'm Alan Partridge...
Needless to say the Reading fans have viewed it differently. Along the lines of ‘how they draw and save us. We are Reading. We played in the Premier League’
Whilst at the same time if Putin made an offer for their club they would have a parade. Strange times.
Having taken a load of flak from lots of local Reading fans living around me, I’m just starting to hear mutterings of maybe we should have take your offer.
No movement this week in the public domain on the sale of the club and rumours abound they will get another points deduction next week.
With a few exceptions there is still an underlying denial of the simple facts. You may want a mega training ground. You may want a youth and academy system. You may want a great squad. But you cannot afford it. You cannot afford it with current owners. You won’t be able to afford it with new owners unless they are prepared to commit financial suicide.
But dare I say (old man mode engaged) this is a society issue. The disconnect between what I want and how I afford it.
I understand their frustration. They are paying large amounts for their season tickets. They’ve been averaging 12-14k fans over the last few seasons. They should have some sort of development squad, a half decent training ground and a solid enough team for League 1. They are not the ones causing financial suicide. The EFL are the overarching body which should have stopped the mess. It was extremely obvious that Reading were going to run into financial issues as soon as they started stockpiling some of the league’s best players in Lewis Wing, Sam Smith, Harvey Knibbs and then giving a 4yr contract to Charlie Savage. They also tried to keep their top asset in Nelson Abbey, but fortunately he was sold. The EFL should never have allowed this. To the everyday fan with no idea about League 1 or the finances of football, this set an early expectation that everything would be alright for them this season. They’re only now coming to reality. The EFL should have been FAR stricter on them over summer.
Whilst we all agree the EFL is impotent in the world of football finance for every club that tries to run on a responsible footing there will be many who will just this once chance their arm on the dream of promotion. So whilst I applaud ideas like live reporting of club finances (as opposed to having to see at Companies House that your club lost a sh1t load 2 years ago) there will be clubs who right now will be finding ways to move expenses off the books. Not a new thing. All the way from Pompy with their image rights or even Loakes Park with it's non-counting turnstile.
Totally agree and Rob deserves our support. Although we are naturally cautious and doubt anyone who is optimistic, I really do think Rob has his heart and soul in the Wycombe project and I hope he can continue to enjoy his time with us.
The January transfer window certainly turned things around for us with some real good signings. Although I had a quite a few sleepless nights, I never thought we would go down.
It is lovely to see us get these points on the board as I am so pleased for Matt. I have questioned his formations and substitutions but in a recent post I admitted to leaving those sort of things to Matt and his team as they have certainly proved they know a lot more about football than me.
It is also brilliant that we can now look forward to Wembley with confidence and also push for a top half finish.
Next season could be very exciting, although there is NEVER a dull moment being a Wycombe fan. COYBS!!!!
I did not worry about us going down, but we were inconsistent and the first half at home against Fleetwood (lest we forget we did draw not lose) made me worry for Matt's job. But I have seen some poor games, results and runs under GA, as we all have, but a midtable finish in League One is not the end of the World and I think MB has earned a chance to improve us next term. (Though in full @glasshalffull mode I hope the teams above us have a disastrous end to the season and we sneak onto the playoffs 😁 )
Listening to this now. One thing has struck me, Beeks et al’s refusal to sell the training ground to the club, if what Couhig says is true, is an absolute disgrace. Beeks should be stripped of his club presidency because with that attitude he is certainly not supporting the club and shouldn’t have such a title if that’s his attitude.

Giant dog like Great Dane? Or Clifford?
Shows their level of intelligence. They don’t even realise when you email questions in, someone (probably Matt) has the tedious job of vetting them.
Unless they will take questions from a live chat which could be hilarious/a car crash and obviously won’t happen.

Hilarious results!

Chicks turn doggo into CHOPPS

I think the reaction to the dog chicken scenario by some of our fans without having all the information is shameful.

Great podcast. Put a lot of false rumours, stated as fact, to rest.
Interesting that the Reading fans protest spooked him.
Other than that he comes across as a standup guy.

This saga may not be over yet.

Seems the Reading Supporters are back in the anger and denial stages of grief.

Just listened to it. Have to agree excellent podcast.
I can imagine their finest minds sending stuff like "why are you such a stupidhead" and giggling themselves to bits.
Then realising that we simply delete such nonsense and their genius has been wasted.

Still laughing at "This Morning's Farmer" and "Cock-a-Doodle-Who?"

‘Doubt anyone who is optimistic’….that’s me done for then!!
Really impressed by both the hosts of the podcast and RC’s honesty.
Sorry @glasshalffull , I just meant that we all naturally question things. You keep on being positive please 👍👍👍
Surely a Gasroom given @glasshalffull 😊
Just as well I’m thick skinned (or should that just be thick!) because I remember being mocked months ago when I said that we wouldn’t be relegated*
* I realise that we aren’t yet mathematically safe.

Is the role of club president actually anything other than ceremonial? What do they *do*?
