Vokes has at least been an annoyance. Up until then our attack hadn’t really troubled them a jot. Much as we can blame their horrid style and a ref’ing performance of staggering incompetence we’ve been really poor.
Game ruined by a combination of the sending off, piss poor refereeing, poor finishing from us and Stevenage just being a shit side & reflection of their odious manager.
It's reasonable to think that we needed to freshen the team after playing on that surface Wednesday.
If Max hadn't made the decision to rush out - not that I think it warranted a red card - with 11 men on the pitch we might have forced a draw. We certainly gave it a go at the end.
Not sure you can completely right it off as down to Matt's team selection.
Stevenage are absolute filth. Repeat fouls everywhere, shirt pulls, backing in, time wasting, rolling around...they've got all the dark arts perfected.
In attack today it was a combination of factors. Sadlier was off colour for large parts of the game. Bez never really got going. Kone had too much to do on his own. Kodua had glimpses but kept coming inside too much for me when he would have been better off wide.
Add to that Taff being sub par and Lonwijk(?) being terrible there’s not a lot to shout about.
Beat me to it. He may not have scored but, apart from that, one of his best performances.
I’ve seen many a match, including Wycombe games, when the balance of play has barely changed after a player has been sent off. The nine outfield players tend to raise their game (by about 10% presumably). But it requires the remaining players to keep their shape and try to retain possession as much as possible. Against a team as physical as Stevenrage, that of course is extremely difficult.
Tafazolli had probably his best game of the season. Can’t think of much else to be positive about.
I must have been watching a different game again, as I thought that Tafazolli was poor again, Sadlier was our best player and that the referee was truly diabolical, which I got downvoted for earlier. A lot of heart from us today, but can’t help but think Leahy is not a good captain. Our communication in defensive phases is absolutely shocking and Leahy allows division to sow between the players constantly pointing fingers at others. That is not helping. McCarthy should be captain, but seems to be out of favour with Bloomfield for captaincy. I find it a bit strange.
I'm afraid I don't buy the excuse that professional footballers can't play twice in three days, even if the surface had been poor on Weds. Scowen and Low both showed no ill effects and should have been playing from the start and subbed off after 60 if necessary. Same with Vokes. We shouldn't have been changing eight players and basically fielding a second string 11 in a very winnable match against a team promoted last summer, even if they're ahead of us in the table at the moment. We saw the consequences of that today. It was a mistake by Matt - and I say this as one of the most positive posters about Bloomfield on here. Hopefully he sees this as a learning point.
I think we actually improved in certain respects after the red card, most notably in the pin-point distribution to Wheeler and Vokes. I don't mind if Ravizzoli gets a chance to start next match or if Matt brings in a emergency loan from the higher divisions, but either way I'm excited to see his system at work alongside a keeper with decent distribution.
Sadlier couldn’t get the ball enough and was quickly outnumbered when he did. Not always players fault, sometimes a good player is made to look less good. He’s been on top form recently this was a dip.
I don’t think many players were worthy of 6/10 scores today. Whatever the reason.
We are still in the relegation battle and we need to start winning games. Tuesday is a very important match. Hopefully Bloomfield picks the best team available not worry about rotation. Sorry I don’t buy professional footballers cannot play twice a week.

Finally Big Phil correcting the nonsense they've been saying about 3 game ban.
Jj was for a moment talking about an appeal making it a 4match!
The ref is totally inept. Not just the red even the basic shit
To be fair to @Blueword, he was bitching when we were 0-0 vs Bradford so does it when we’re drawing too.
Credit where it’s due, Vokes has been excellent.

I’m sorry mat, you screwed up big time with that team selection
This is the worst ref I have .ever seen ....worse than Sunday league.

You’re the worst gasroom poster I’ve ever seen.
We won the second half 0-0.
Next Tuesday is the 'must win' game.
seen ? get a life fella...enjoy your microwave meal for one
First 15 mins we should have scored.

Hopefully they lose the play off final on pens.
Wow that sounds like some other team I know and love.
Probably exactly what everyone said about us a few years ago

Didn't seem the right game to rest Vokes and Low. You need physical strength against an Evans team.
However, if we can boot Cheltenham into touch midweek it's worth it.

Can't say that I've seen too much in Bez so far, he's had a run of a few games starting now, I'd start with Vokes and Kone Tuesday.

You need to have no keepers available to ask for an emergency loan.

Not if the only goalkeeper available has five or fewer professional appearance if I remember correctly. Fran has fewer than five.
I just checked. 5 games = professional. Well I never.

Not at all sure that’s true. We have no one to go on the bench next week as Laurence Shala is injured.
If I was Fran, I'd be extremely annoyed if an emergency loan was called in and played in front of me ! It's only one game
True. But it seems we're looking for an emergency sub.
Which was true of course.
